Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld is used to getting heat for what critics call “disgusting” aspects of his show, but he’s now facing some backlash for taking a “jab” at Jimmy Kimmel after the latter’s own late-night program was indefinitely suspended.

Kimmel’s show was announced to be on an “indefinite” hiatus Wednesday, two days after he commented on the Charlie Kirk assassination by saying his suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, had been a conservative, and critiizing President Donald Trump’s response when asked about Kirk’s killing.

Now, after the President ominously warned Kimmel he would be “next” after Stephen Colbert’s own firing over the summer, many are calling out the show’s suspension, with critics saying his free speech has been violated, while others are applauding the move.

When it came to Gutfeld, he was the only person with a late night show that hadn’t taped prior to the news breaking–and he was able to address it live on air.

Gutfeld slammed Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter, earning some backlash himself

Prior to receiving the news during his broadcast, he also addressed Kimmel’s monologue, slamming him to say that it was more likely Robinson had been a fan of his show than Gutfeld’s.

“He didn’t imply [Kirk’s shooter was MAGA], he said it,” Gutfeld said. “If he doesn’t address what he did, he’s done.”

“I hate to tell you buddy, but the guy who shot and killed Charlie Kirk was more likely a fan of yours,” he later added.

Many quickly seized on the fact that Gutfeld’s comment seemingly did the same thing as Kimmel’s, by connecting Robinson to one political ideology over the other, and quickly took to social media to call out that he too should face consequences as a result.

“Wait so Kimmel can’t say that MAGA spent all weekend pointing fingers to prove it wasn’t one of them (which they did), but Gutfeld can make a claim like this and not get shook down by the FCC?” one person asked on X (formerly Twitter).

“Wait, so when Kimmel does it it’s an abomination, Gutfeld does it and it’s totally fine,” another added.

However, the conservative talk show host also faced praise, after many followed up on President Trump’s reaction to the news, which he said was due to Kimmel’s ratings.

Many then also took to social media to praise Gutfeld, saying unlike others he was “funny,” and sharing that he had done better in the ratings than both Kimmel and Colbert, with less overhead cost, indicating that the other two were taken off air due to costs.

“Greg Gutfeld is a lot funnier than Jimmy Kimmel,” one person wrote.

“Greg Gutfeld had a low budget show on FOX News that was kicking Kimmel’s a– with a team of writers, producers, and musicians. Kimmel was fired because not enough people watched his show to justify the expense,” another said.

Kimmel has not publicly addressed the news of his suspension.
