night marked Rachel Maddow’s first television appearance since the assassination of Charlie Kirk last Wednesday. As the most influential voice in liberal media, many wondered how she would address the killing and the wave of reaction from the left.

However, as Mediaite noted, Maddow opted not to devote even a segment to Kirk’s killing. Instead, she simply referenced the shooting in a 22-second commentary on “Dear Leader” Trump’s “crackdown” on crime.

“Hey, once you’ve got an enemies list, no reason to keep it short,” Maddow began. “Another headline today, quote, White House plans broad crackdown on liberal groups. They’re saying now they will use the horrific murder of pro-Trump activist Charlie Kirk last week as a justification for some undefined whole-of-government attack on what they always describe very vaguely as the left in this country.”

Maddow never referenced Kirk again throughout her 60-minute program.

Considering Maddow spent nearly three years of airtime fixated on the Russia Hoax, one would think she could spend at least a full segment on the targeted killing of the most prominent political activist of this generation.

Of course, Maddow has a history with Kirk. Speaking of entire segments, Maddow devoted one to Kirk last year, during which she framed him as a — wait for it — racist.

Dishonest rhetoric like that likely played a role in Kirk’s murder.

Still, many voices on the left have continued their smear campaign against Kirk since his death—including many of Maddow’s current and former colleagues.

Moments after President Trump announced Kirk’s killing, senior political analyst Matthew Dowd claimed Kirk’s “awful words” brought about his own murder. The network fired Dowd that night, calling his comments “unacceptable and insensitive.”

But Dowd wasn’t the only MSNBC pundit to show such bad faith after the network’ breaking news coverage of Kirk’s death. A segment later, anchor Katy Tur wondered aloud whether Trump would “use the Charlie Kirk shooting as a justification for something bad.” Reporter Allan Smith then speculated whether conservatives might do something similar to “take over Washington.”

Honestly, maybe it was best that Maddow hardly mentioned Kirk’s assassination. Otherwise, she likely would’ve offered yet another unnecessarily contemptuous response to the death of a 31-year-old husband and father of two.

As OutKick argued last week, it’s time to shut MSNBC down. The network is no longer useful or even a news operation. It’s a propaganda arm for the most radical leftists among us, several of whom use airtime to justify political violence against their enemies.
