Fans of The View will have to find something else to watch in the mornings this summer.

Joy Behar accidentally let it slip during the July 24 broadcast that the daytime talk show is going on its annual summer hiatus following the July 25 episode. This is not uncommon for the program, which typically takes the month of August off every year, before returning after Labor Day. The new season is expected to premiere in September.

“Before we go on hiatus — we only have one more show after this. I’m allowed to say that, right?” Behar said toward the end of the broadcast. Alyssa Farah Griffin, in turn, replied with a laugh, “Too late now!” while a producer, off-screen, responded, “It doesn’t really matter.”

Why New Episodes of The View Aren't Airing This Week – Return Date Revealed

The View previously aired repeats the entire week of Monday, June 30 through Friday, July 4. When the show resumed on July 7, it also featured the return of co-host/moderator  Whoopi Goldberg, who had been absent from the roundtable while she was in Italy. During Goldberg’s temporary leave, Joy Behar moderated the discussion with co-hosts Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin.

“We are all jealous of Whoopi today because she’s in Italy – I hope it’s 100 degrees,” Behar said during the June 23 episode. “She’s in Italy accepting an award for her book Bits and Pieces, so she will be out this week.” (The trip proved to be extra fruitful for Goldberg, who landed a recurring role on the Italian soap opera Un Posto Al Sole, per our sister site Deadline.)

Prior to that, The View previously took the week of April 14 off for its spring break. Days before that hiatus, Behar missed three episodes due to an illness, prompting Goldberg, who usually takes Fridays off, to fill in for her on Friday, April 11.

A month before her absence, Behar confirmed to the “Behind the Table” podcast that she has no plans to leave The View anytime soon. “Everybody leaves eventually. Even you will leave eventually,” Behar told the podcast’s host, Brian Teta, who responded, “But there’s no plans for you to go anywhere at the moment?” Behar answered, “No.”
