Dr. Emmanuel “Manny” Hostin, the legendary surgeon who once got mad at Doug E. Fresh for dancing “too close” to his wife, better watch his back if he ever becomes a “nasty, nasty cheater,” according to his spouse.

The View cohost Sunny Hostin spoke such a warning into existence Friday morning at the Hot Topics table, where the ladies reacted to what they felt was a bizarre practice in China, involving a “consultant mistress” that women in the country hire to work their way into the personal lives of their adulterous husbands and “convince the pair to break it off” cleanly.

“Basically, she’s a private eye. Magnum P.I. in a dress,” Joy Behar joked, before asking the panel for their takes.

“It’s very evolved. The spouse that would hire this P.I. is not consumed with rage, is not trying to punch the other person in the throat, is not trying to poison the person,” Hostin observed. “It’s a very evolved way of handling the fact that your husband is a nasty, nasty cheater.”

Ana Navarro quipped that Hostin is “never going to hire one” because “she’d kill Manny” if she ever found out he was cheating on her.

Cohost Sara Haines questioned, “Who has that kind of time on their hands?” before admitting, “I’m just like, done. We’ll get the next one. I love my husband, but I don’t know how much I love him that I’d spend months and weeks trolling him to please come home.”

Conservative panelist Alyssa Farah Griffin, who recently announced her first pregnancy with husband Justin Griffin, speculated that she wouldn’t want to be as “passive” about the situation if she discovered that Justin was unfaithful.

“I’d think you’d want to ragefully confront them,” the 36-year-old said, “Not give them this easy out where they feel like ‘I did the morally right thing in the end.’ Like, no, no, no, you need to feel the pain and anger!”

Hostin then dialed up her criticisms for men who cheat, calling anyone who does so a “nasty, nasty cheater” and “morally bankrupt” on top of that.

Behar singled out the “rage I’m experiencing from this group” on the matter, to which Griffin confirmed, “I have rage.”

Hostin then admitted, “I own the rage,” prompting Behar to joke, “Okay, some of us are medicated.”

The 83-year-old also offered reasoning on why she thinks couples might want to take a more docile approach to ending their union instead of going out in a flurry of fireworks.

“They want to save face, that’s why they don’t cause a scene,” Behar said, though Hostin dug in her heels.

“If my man cheats on me, everybody is going to know how nasty he is,” she said. “Everybody is going to know how disloyal he is, everybody is going to know everything, and I’m not going to look bad. He looks bad!”

In early 2024, Hostin told the Behind the Table podcast that Manny once got angry with her after Fresh’s appearance on her birthday episode of The View the year prior, which saw the recording artist dancing onstage with the cohost nearby.

“I don’t know if you remember, during my birthday show when we had the 50 years of hip-hop [special], Doug E. Fresh came up to me and, in my husband’s view, danced a little too close to me,” Hostin told View producer Brian Teta on the show. “I only looked into the audience and took one look at his face … and scooted over so quickly. I didn’t even think I had it in me to move that quickly. We got into the car, and he said, ‘What the bleep was that?’”
