Joy Behar snapped at Alyssa Farah Griffin on The View after Griffin pointed out that Democrats still hold power amid the ongoing government shutdown, which is now in its third week.

The co-hosts got into a spat just ahead of the commercial break after Behar urged viewers to reach out to their local Republican lawmakers.

“You can call the Republicans in your district,” Behar instructed. “Call them on the phone, tell them how you feel.”

Griffin interjected to note that voters should reach out to their local Democrats, as well.

“Well, call your member of Congress,” Griffin amended. “Democrats have power in this. I don’t get the just giving away your power, shutting every down down while Trump is doing everything he wants.”

Behar wasted no time before snapping, “The Republicans own everything, Alyssa, including the Supreme Court. Come on.”

However, Griffin clapped back by echoing a sentiment many have felt throughout this shutdown. “What has the shutdown accomplished? Nothing,” she said.

Whoopi Goldberg cut in before the spat escalated as the show’s commercial break music began playing, signalling the end of the segment.

“Well, they haven’t taken away a lot of the stuff they’re planning to yet, so that’s what it’s accomplished,” Goldberg said. “Maybe it’s making it take more time.”

She continued, “People are starting to get pissed about it and I’m putting it on those folks in Washington.” She added that there’s “nothing” citizens “can do about it right now,” but lawmakers will “only fix it if its getting to their pockets.”

Goldberg recently called for President Trump to “act like the president of the United States,” noting he seems to be juggling multiple foreign affairs instead of dealing with the government shut down.
