However, he sparked fears that he left the morning show with his emotional Instagram post earlier this week.

Craig, 46, shared a slideshow of photos of himself sitting behind a news desk and reporting live at the studio.

He accompanied the pics with a lengthy message commemorating his time at MSNBC, NBC‘s former sister network, which he worked for from July 2011 to 2022.

“Long before @todayshow, I started my journey at 30 Rock hosting a show on @msnbc, and spent a decade making unforgettable memories with amazing colleagues,” the journalist’s post began.

“I’m so grateful for the work we did together and will miss those familiar faces. Will always be proud of our work-elections, inaugurations, too many other news events to list, a global pandemic, and a total eclipse.

“Thanks for the memories, and cheers to the next chapter for @msnownews.”

Fans grew concerned that Craig’s post might not only have been reminiscent of his years at MSNBC, but also a subtle announcement of his departure from Today.

“At first glance, this gave me a heart attack!” one person commented.

“Don’t scare us,” said another.

“Scared me for a minute,” a third remarked.

“I thought you were leaving the Today Show & was sad!” a fourth reacted.

“Omg I thought this was goodbye to Today,” a fifth added.

Craig clarified his words in the comments, writing, “Not leaving the today show. Was just saying goodbye to my MSNBC colleagues.”

NBC and MSNBC are in the midst of a messy split, with MSNBC re-branding as MS NOW as of November 15.

He was promoted to one of the program’s main anchors in January, following Savannah’s former co-anchor, Hoda Kotb‘s, exit.
