After a dramatic 27-24 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid walked into the press conference room with a smile of relief and pride on his face. In a game where everything could have gone wrong, Reid emphasized that the team’s resilience and fan support were key to overcoming adversity.

Thank You To “The 12th Person”
Reid opened his speech with special thanks to the fans at Arrowhead. “They were incredible,” he said. The noise and energy from the stands played a key role, especially in the decisive moments at the end of the game, drowning out the chants of the visiting team and giving the players a boost.
The Shining of Individuals
The victory was marked by extraordinary individual efforts. Reid singled out Kareem Hunt, who had an “unbelievable” day with more than 100 yards passing. “Kareem dusted himself off and played the game of his life,” Reid said of the veteran running back.
Rashee Rice also received a “shower” of praise for her explosive performance of 141 yards and an important 2-point conversion. Patrick Mahomes, despite the pressure, remained calm and “fired” continuously in the second half to reach the 300-yard mark. Rookie Xavier Worthy, despite a sore ankle, still fought hard.
Reasonable Defense and Tactics
Reid also had praise for his assistants, praising Steve Spagnuolo’s defensive planning against one of the league’s best offenses, as well as Matt Nagy’s offensive play-calling acumen.
The Chiefs defense made some great plays, with Drue Tranquill making key tackles in overtime. Holding Jonathan Taylor down and forcing the Colts to punt at key moments was a testament to the team’s preparation.
“Never Bow Down” Spirit
What Andy Reid is most proud of is not the statistics, but the attitude of the players. Despite injuries (Trey Smith, Christian Roland-Wallace, Noah Gray) and difficult situations, no one in the Chiefs squad seemed discouraged.
“Nobody put their head down and said, ‘Oh no, it’s over,’” Reid said. “That’s not the mentality in our building.” It was that unity and belief that helped the Chiefs weather the storm and come away with this important win, keeping their hopes alive for the rest of the season.
With this victory, Chiefs not only improved their performance but also reaffirmed the qualities of a true champion: stubborn, resilient and always knowing how to win when most needed.
