All right, regarding injuries, the players who won’t be active today are Kareem Hunt, who has a bone bruise on his knee. He’ll be fine, but we’re going to have him sit out today. Trey is dealing with low back spasms; we’ll see how that progresses. Everything with Josh is positive—it’s not a negative situation. He’s just focusing on family at the moment.Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid Comes Clean On Mysterious & Concerning Absence Of Star Rookie Josh Simmons - NewsBreak

Looking ahead, we’re preparing to face Washington, and we know they’re a strong team. They have a veteran roster with talented players on all sides of the ball, a head coach I consider among the very best in the profession, and solid coordinators on offense, defense, and special teams. They have explosive players and strong presence upfront, and quarterback Mariota has already proven himself capable with a win here, so we know he’s a quality player. Our focus is to have a productive week of preparation.

Regarding the Pro Football Hall of Fame and coaches, I was very surprised Mike didn’t get in last year. From my experience, nobody did it better than him. As for Marty Schottenheimer, I have the utmost respect for him; he’s highly deserving. Marty had success as both a player and a coach and is a phenomenal individual.

About Trey being slightly banged up, Mike Kelley has always been a reliable starter, and the coaches have full confidence in him when he steps in. Bashard Smith has been progressing well. He’s picked up the position, understands the pass and run games, and manages protections effectively despite complex looks from defenses. We’ve been able to give him expanded responsibilities each week, moving him around, and his hard work and intangible contributions have been excellent.

Kareem has excelled in short-yardage situations, showing his knack for the run game. Pop has also contributed with some key plays. Having players like Hollywood, Xavier, and Rasheed on the field together in waves adds a lot of depth and flexibility to the offense. Thornton and Guju have also stepped up, giving us a loaded roster to work with.

Washington’s defense has had ups and downs this year. Their front is explosive, their pass rush is strong, and their linebackers are getting healthy and organized. We know we’ll have our work cut out for us.

Regarding individual players, Nate was targeted for around 40% of opportunities last week, hitting 41%. He didn’t play in the fourth quarter, but his numbers are trending upward with another week of practice. Omar Norman is getting ready to contribute more, and Mike Gan is available to step in on the interior line as needed.

Jawan Taylor has improved his discipline and performance, maintaining solid play even with past penalties. Continuity along the line with players like Jaylen Mo has been crucial, easing the responsibilities for everyone, including the quarterback, receivers, and running backs. Patrick has confidence in the line, which affects play-calling and overall performance.

Finally, communication with Josh remains positive. He’s taking care of business and keeping open communication, which is the most important thing right now.
