Billionaire Raymond Cole was weary of people pretending to love him only for his wealth. Money trailed him like a shadow, bringing with it fake smiles, greedy hands, and false affections.
An idea struck him one evening: “If money blinds people, then I will use it to test their hearts.”
The very next morning, four women arrived at his mansion.
Cynthia, his glamorous, luxury-obsessed girlfriend.
Margaret, his cousin, who constantly complained about her struggles.
Angela, his so-called best friend, who never missed an opportunity to ask for favors.
And Elena, his maid—quiet, humble, and always walking with her head lowered.
Raymond handed each of them a platinum credit card, smiling faintly: “You have 24 hours. Buy whatever you wish. Don’t ask questions—just spend. Tomorrow, return the cards, and I will decide what that means for your future.”
Cynthia, Margaret, and Angela rushed out with gleaming eyes. But Elena, the maid, nervously clutched the card. She had never even owned a bank card before.
The next day, Raymond sat in his private lounge.
Cynthia strutted in with arms full of shopping bags from the city’s most expensive boutiques. Jewelry, designer dresses, and shoes that cost more than a worker’s annual salary. Margaret brought in furniture orders, gold accessories, and gadgets she claimed she “needed.” Angela showed invoices for luxury wines, all-night club bills, and a deposit she had placed on a new car.
Raymond’s face was calm, unreadable.
Finally, Elena walked in—without a single shopping bag. Just a small envelope.

“Sir,” she said softly, bowing her head, “I didn’t buy for myself. I went to the orphanage down the road. The children lacked food, books, and blankets. I used the card for them. Here are the receipts.” She placed the envelope gently on the table.
Raymond froze. For the first time in years, he felt his heart tighten—not from betrayal, but from pure awe. The three other women gaped at Elena, disbelief written across their faces.
Raymond slowly stood, his voice deep and steady.
“I gave you money to test your hearts. Three of you showed me greed… but you—” he turned to Elena, “—you showed me humanity.”
The room fell silent. No one expected what Raymond did next…
The room was heavy with silence. The three women—Cynthia, Margaret, and Angela—stood stunned, trying to read Raymond Cole’s mind.
Raymond Cole took a deep breath, his sharp gaze sweeping over the first three, then settling firmly on Elena.
“Cynthia,” he said, his tone cold and definitive. “You maxed out the card limit, buying things you didn’t truly need, only to satisfy your vanity. Our relationship is over. You have 30 minutes to pack and leave my estate.”
Cynthia shrieked, “Raymond! You can’t do this! We were…”
“Were what?” Raymond cut her off. “You were in love with my money, not me.”
He turned to Margaret, whose face was pale. “Margaret, you speak of hardship, yet you used this opportunity to accumulate personal wealth without a thought for others. I will help you one last time with a small sum, enough for you to get on your feet, but this family tie will no longer come with unconditional financial support. Learn to stand on your own.”
Finally, Angela, the so-called friend. “Angela, you have always seen me as an endless fund for your entertainment. This exploitation ends now. We are no longer friends.”
All three women were left in shock and dismay. Greed had blinded them, and now they had to pay the price.
Raymond Cole then turned back to look at Elena. She still stood there, head bowed, her hands clutching her apron.
“Elena,” his voice became unexpectedly warm and tender. “You are the only one who passed my test. I gave you money to shop for yourself, but you chose to shop for the orphans. You used the small power you had to create something great.”
He approached her, gently lifting her chin so she looked him directly in the eyes.
“I have searched for genuineness for so many years. The three of them found money. But you, you found my heart.”
Raymond Cole took the envelope of receipts for the orphanage.
“As of today,” Raymond declared, his voice echoing across the room, silencing the three women still in the room. “You are no longer my maid. You will be the manager of my personal charitable foundation, with a worthy salary and full authority to use my wealth to help others.”
Tears welled up in Elena’s eyes; she trembled. “Sir… I don’t know what to say…”
Raymond smiled gently. “Don’t say anything. Show me. Start by moving into the guest suite and having dinner with me tonight. Show me how to be a better man.”
Cynthia, Margaret, and Angela watched the scene with disbelief. They had lost everything due to greed, while the humble maid had earned a position that money could not buy, thanks to her humanity.
