Rebecca Gayheart Addresses Eric Dane Marriage After Dismissing Divorce: ‘Figured Out the Formula’
Rebecca Gayheart gave an update on her relationship with Eric Dane after she requested to dismiss their divorce.
“We are best of friends. We are really close. We are great coparents,” Gayheart, 53, told E! News on Wednesday, April 9. “We really figured out the formula to staying a family and I think our kids are benefiting greatly from it and we are as well.”

Gayheart and Dane, 52, share two daughters Billie, 15, and Georgia, 13. The actress explained that despite their ups and downs, she and the Grey’s Anatomy alum have achieved a lot together since tying the knot in 2004.
“I think it’s important to not look at a relationship that ends as a failure. It’s just a season. It wasn’t a failure. It was a huge success,” she said. “We were married for, I mean, we are still married, but together for 15 years and we had two beautiful kids so I think that’s a successful relationship, and that’s how we look at it.”
Gayheart did not elaborate on whether or not she and Dane have rekindled their romance. Dane also has not addressed the pair’s current relationship status.
Us Weekly confirmed last month that Gayheart filed paperwork requesting to dismiss her divorce from Dane. Gayheart initially filed for divorce back in 2018 after 14 years of marriage. At the time, she cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split. Gayheart also asked for spousal support and joint legal and physical custody of their children.
Over the past seven years since Gayheart’s filing, neither she nor Dane reached a divorce settlement. Instead, they’ve focused on being amicable coparents for their kids.

“We’re doing our best. It isn’t easy,” Gayheart told Us in October 2018. “But we are trying and we are committed … There are so many things [that make it challenging]. I think that as a female you need to be able to always take care of yourself and never depend on a man. I’m going back to work and I think it’s partly because I want my daughters to see me work. I took some time off to have my kids.”
Two years later, Dane shared that he had regrets about how his relationship with Gayheart ended.
“We’ve all made mistakes. My one regret is that I got the person I love most wrapped up in all that: Rebecca,” he told People in 2020.
