Michael Jordan Reacts to Ryan Blaney Calling Out His Driver After Kyle Larson Spin

Ryan Blaney hinted that 23XI Racing driver Bubba Wallace was responsible for spinning out Kyle Larson during the NASCAR Cup Series race at Darlington. Speaking to the co-owner of 23XI, Michael Jordan, Blaney called out his driver, which led Jordan to reveal his perspective.

Larson made contact with the wall, triggering overtime and allowing Blaney to secure the race lead after passing William Byron. However, Larson later spun and touched the inside wall following an alleged contact with Wallace, bringing out the caution flags.

Unfortunately for Blaney, he was late in rejoining the race from the pit road and thus found himself behind Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick. Eventually, he finished fifth.

Blaney was likely furious about Wallace’s contact with Larson since the incident compromised his lead in the race and eliminated chances of a potential victory. As a result, he decided to raise the subject with Jordan after the former basketball star approached him. A video on X by Jeff Gluck shows their interaction, but the audio fades out in between. Blaney told him:

“Hey, if your boy didn’t spin out Larson it would be…”

While the rest of the sentence is not audible, Jordan’s response confirms Blaney’s statement. Jordan responded:

“Did he spin out Larson?

“I couldn’t tell.”

Hamlin went on to secure his second win of the season at Darlington, a week after his maiden victory at Martinsville. Surprisingly, Jordan praised his 23XI partner Hamlin before the Darlington Cup race and even anticipated his win. He told FOX NASCAR’s Jamie Little:

“He is a clown, but that’s him. That’s Denny. He’s a very confident driver. He’s a very confident person. His competitive juice is no different than mine. I mean, I love that. I want him to win a championship so badly because I think he’s earned that. Because of what he’s done for the sport for so long. He’s gonna grind it out; that’s just the way Denny is.

“If you boo him, that makes him better. If you boo me, that makes me better. I mean, that’s just the nature of a good competitor. So, I’m very happy for his win last week. Don’t be surprised if he [wins] today.”

Jordan also mentioned that he was happy about the progress 23XI drivers Reddick and Wallace were making. He added:

“I’m so happy. I mean, the only thing that you can ever ask for as an owner, and probably as a team is just have a chance, you know. We, each week, we unload the cars, we have a chance. It’s up to the drivers, you know, to go out and do the necessary things to win. Our pit crew is on fire. So, it’s giving the drivers – putting the race back in their hands. So, I mean, look, I’m happy with our progress. I just hope that we continue to move up the ladder.”
