Reba McEntire Releases Music Video For Tearjerking Song, “Seven Minutes In Heaven”

Reba McEntire released a new acoustic album, Not That Fancy, on October 6, 2023. The album contains acoustic versions of 13 of her signature songs, and one emotional new tune called “Seven Minutes In Heaven”

“Seven Minutes In Heaven” was written by Matt Wynn and Olivia Rudeen. In it, Reba sings about what she’d do, and who she’d spend time with, if she had only seven minutes to spend beyond the pearly gates.

As she sings at one point:

“I wouldn’t ask Cash why he wore all-black / Or have Elvis sing me a song / I wouldn’t ask why Kennedy died / ‘Cause I know that I wouldn’t have long.” From there, she shares, “If I had seven minutes in Heaven / I’d spend them all with you.”

Reba also shared a music video to accompany “Seven Minutes In Heaven.” That video makes it clear the “you” she is referring to is her late mama, Jacqueline.

Reba’s Mama Jacqueline McEntire Died In 2020

Jacqueline McEntire died on March 14, 2020, following a battle with cancer. She was 92 years old.

“Our Mother, Jacqueline McEntire, made that wonderful cross over into Heaven today,” Reba said when she shared the sad news. “She had a wonderful, full, healthy life and was absolutely ready to go. The cancer might think it won the battle but we’re giving God all the credit on selecting the time for her to go home to Him. She was ready to see our Daddy, her mama and daddy and all her family and friends.”

Reba ended her 2019 album Stronger Than the Truth with a song in tribute to her mother. It’s called “You Never Gave Up On Me.”

The song took on a new meaning for Reba when Jacqueline passed away just a few months later.

Reba Pays Tribute To Her Mother Through Her Emotional New Song “Seven Minutes In Heaven”

In the music video for “Seven Minutes In Heaven,” McEntire has an actress star alongside her who resembles her beloved mother. The video shows a tearful Reba reuniting with her in heaven, and asking her all the questions she can in the short time she has with her.

At the end, Reba cries as she hugs her mom goodbye. They hold on to each other’s hands as long as possible before Reba has to go.

Writing on X (formerly Twitter), Reba said, “This one was an emotional one to film, but I’m sure glad we did. Who would you like to spend seven minutes in heaven with?“
