Reba McEntire & Rex Linn Fell In Love In 2020 – Years After They First Met
Anyone who watches Reba McEntire and Rex Linn interact can tell they’re deeply in love. They fell for each other in 2020 after meeting for a dinner with friends.
Because of COVID, the couple was forced to date long distance for a few months. When they finally got the chance to reunite, they became inseparable.
Reba and Rex went public with their relationship later in 2020. They’ve since attended awards shows together, went to Reba’s son’s wedding together, and even starred in Big Sky and The Hammer together.
But Reba and Rex actually knew each other for years before they started dating. They first met in 1991 on the set of Kenny Rogers’ TV movie The Gambler Returns: The Luck of the Draw.
Reba and Rex kept in touch through the years, and maintained a friendship. As you now know, they didn’t fall in love until nearly 30 years later. Why is that?
Reba Speaks To Drew Barrymore About Her Relationship
As it turns out, Reba has asked herself the same thing. During a recent conversation with Drew Barrymore on her talk show, Reba said she’s questioned why she and Rex didn’t fall in love earlier than they did.
“It was just like, why now…and so I said, ‘Rex, how come you and I have known each other all this time, but we never got together?’”
There is one big reason why. Reba was married twice in the past. She first married Charlie Battles in 1976, and they divorced in 1987. She then married her second husband, Narvel Blackstock, in 1989. They divorced in 2015.
Reba also shared with Drew that Rex was engaged four times before, but never married.

When asked why he thinks they didn’t get together earlier, Reba said Rex told her “probably because you would have killed me.” She jokingly referred to him as “a wild man” and said “he’s [like] a twelve-year-old.”
Rex knew his personality would have been even more “wild” in his younger years. So Reba recognizes they both needed to learn and grow in order to find themselves in a place where they could fall in love.
Now that Reba and Rex have finally found love together, they’re absolutely smitten. They even have nicknames for each other, which are “Tater Tot” and “Sugar Tot.”
They’ve also “giggled” over the idea of getting married one day.
