Jimmy Fallon Reminisces About His Parents’ Sweet (and Tasty!) Traditions on His 49th Birthday: ‘Lucky Kid’

Jimmy Fallon is finishing off his forties!
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host celebrated his 49th birthday on Tuesday with a nostalgic look back at all his previous birthdays.
Fallon shared a throwback photo from his childhood on Instagram, showing himself blowing out the candles on his white and blue frosted ice cream cake for his seventh birthday. The photograph shows 7-year-old Fallon sporting a white and orange baseball T-shirt.
Fallon honored his parents, Gloria and James Sr., in the Instagram caption. “Since I can remember my parents always got me an ice cream cake for my birthday. Lucky kid. Keeping ice cream cakes in business since 1974. (Thank you all for the birthday love.) #49,” wrote Fallon.
Friends and followers replied to the Saturday Night Live alum’s post, wishing him a happy birthday.
Andy Cohen commented “Happy birthday you funny stud!” While fellow comedic performers, Amy Sedaris and Ego Nwodim wrote “HB!!!” and “Happy birthday!!!,” respectively. Music producer Mark Ronson commented, “Happy birthday ❤️.”
In addition to warm wishes from friends and family in his comment section, Fallon received a birthday message from Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, John Oliver and Jimmy Kimmel, his co-hosts of the new podcast, Strike Force Five.
The Instagram post was a 55-second reel, which included Fallon recalling a red carpet-memory for his co-hosts. The official Strike Force Five account captioned the reel with “Happy birthday to our pal @JimmyFallon! 👍🤣.”
In the video, Fallon shared with his fellow late-night talk show hosts that he has been mocked for the appearance of his thumbs.
Fallon explained he was on a red carpet and photographers were asking him to pose with a thumbs up, but that wasn’t something he frequently did. “I go, ‘I don’t really do the thumbs up.’ [They said] ‘Come on man just give us a thumbs up,’ ” he said. “So I go ‘Alright.’ I give a thumbs up and it gets posted. It’s in the New York Post and it says ‘Jimmy Fallon giving a weird thumbs up.’ ”

Their recent endeavor was created as a result of the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike, which began in May. The podcast includes the hosts discussing the intricacies of their hiatus with comedic flair. The hosts are donating the podcast’s proceeds to the out-of-work staff of The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night With Seth Meyers and Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.
