Dolly Parton Announces a Break from Music After Husband Carl Dean’s Passing: “All on Hold”

Dolly Parton, the beloved country music legend, has announced that she is stepping away from music following the recent passing of her husband, Carl Dean. In a candid interview on the Khloé in Wonder Land podcast, Parton revealed that, while she is not retiring from music, she is putting her songwriting on pause as she processes her grief.

“I can’t do it. I can’t do it right now because I have so many other things that I can’t afford the luxury of, you know, getting emotional,” Parton shared with Khloé Kardashian. Though she admitted feeling “stalled” in her creative journey, Parton emphasized that this is not a permanent farewell to music.
