Jimmy Fallon celebrated the 2024 total solar eclipse in a spectacular way!

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon host, 49, put on a once-in-a-lifetime performance of Bonnie Tyler’s 1983 hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” with the band Heart. After the song and the eclipse, Fallon removed his ’80s sunglasses to reveal his new “bright eyes.”

In the first total solar eclipse since 2017 visible in the mainland U.S. and with the country not expected to experience another darkened sky for another 20 years, the late-night talk show host gave fans a show to remember.

“Iconic rock duo Heart is our musical guest tonight – also there was a solar eclipse. So we did what we had to do and sang ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ with @OfficialHeart from the rooftop of @NBC during the TOTAL eclipse. Watch tonight at 11:35/10:35c. #Eclipse2024,” he wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) ahead of the main event.

Fallon and the “Barracuda” hitmakers rocked out on the rooftop at 30 Rockefeller Plaza as the moon passed between Earth and the sun for the rare cosmic event.

In addition to Heart, the program’s guests for Monday, April 8, also included Jim Parsons and Kaia Gerber.

Hundreds of spectators across North America and Mexico witnessed the cosmic event.

An eclipse festival in Russellville, Arkansas offered free weddings for “astro-loving” couples, according to its website.

“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience with the eclipse and a lot of couples have unique reasons for wanting to be married during that time,” event organizer Rodney Williams told KATV.

Williams said he was expecting around 300 couples from across 22 states to sign up for the mass wedding — including one pair who had traveled over 500 miles.

“I think the emotions from seeing the eclipse take place are just going to be a synergistic effect that heightens everything and brings tears to the eyes,” the event organizer said. “Seeing the smiling faces and hopefully seeing stars and just being a part of that is going to make me happy.”

Others lucky enough to be in the path of totality planned ahead — such as in the city of Mazatlan, Mexico, where crowds gathered to take pictures of the sunset on Sunday, April 7, in preparation for the following day’s eclipse.

Some officials referred to the area as the ideal viewing location.

People were also photographed in New York lining up a day early for a great spot to catch the show.

And as for Fallon’s performance, it’s likely that Tyler, 72, would have been pleased.

In an interview with Good Morning America on Monday, the ‘80s artist said she still gets “excited” to hear the classic.

“Every time the eclipse comes, everyone all over the world, they play ‘Total Eclipse of the Heart’ and I never get tired of singing it,” she said.
