A bombshell new report is alleging a stunning and deeply alarming plot orchestrated by the Trump administration to weaponize the Department of Justice in a “revenge” scheme aimed at jailing political enemies, with a primary target no less than former President Barack Obama. The plan, as detailed in a fiery new segment on Legal AF, allegedly involves a carefully coordinated effort between Donald Trump, Attorney General Pam Bondi, a hand-picked U.S. Attorney in Florida, and the ever-controversial federal judge, Aileen Cannon.

Aileen Cannon, Trump Appointee, Was Randomly Assigned to Documents Case - The New York Times

This isn’t just political speculation. According to Legal AF host Michael Popok, recent reporting from MSNBC, The Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times has uncovered a “grand conspiracy theory” being actively pursued by the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, Jason Reading Kenyon.

The core of the allegation is this: Kenyon, with the blessing of Attorney General Pam Bondi and at the direction of Donald Trump, is attempting to empanel a grand jury to investigate and ultimately indict Barack Obama. The supposed basis for this investigation is a re-litigation of the “Russia collusion” investigation from 2016, with the baseless claim that Obama himself tried to interfere with the election.

The alleged plot is so egregious that it has already triggered a crisis of conscience within the Justice Department. According to the reports, two career line prosecutors, upon learning of the “grand conspiracy theory” they were being asked to pursue, have already “thrown in the towel” and quit, stating they were “not comfortable” being part of the effort.

But the most glaring and audacious part of the alleged scheme is the “how” and “where.” The Southern District of Florida’s main federal courthouses are in Miami. However, Kenyon is reportedly planning to take this entire investigation “70 miles up 95” to a small federal courthouse in Fort Pierce.

Why?

Because Fort Pierce has “only one judge.” Her name is Aileen Cannon.

This is the same Judge Cannon who, as Popok notes, “helped Donald Trump out” with the Mar-a-Lago case. She is the “only judge in 200 years” to find that a special prosecutor was improperly appointed, a move that directly benefited Trump. The clear implication is that the administration is “judge shopping,” bypassing the dozens of federal judges in Miami to hand-pick the one judge they believe is “in their back pocket” and will guarantee a favorable outcome.

The plan’s architects are allegedly so confident in their strategy that they are barely hiding it. Popok points to MAGA figure Mike Davis, a “former Senate aid” and “MAGA sweetheart,” who has been “bragging on social media” about the impending investigation. Davis reportedly posted a photo of himself “smiling with Jason Reading Kenyon,” with a caption ominously declaring “justice is coming.” This public display, Popok argues, shatters any illusion of impartiality and suggests a politically motivated hit job.

The U.S. Attorney at the center of this, Jason Reading Kenyon, is described as a perfect operative for such a plan. According to Popok, Kenyon has a history of “poor reviews for incompetence” from his previous stint as a federal prosecutor, even filing a “discrimination claim” to explain his poor performance. “That’s perfect for Donald Trump,” Popok states. “He doesn’t need competence, he needs fealty and loyalty.”

Kenyon allegedly called an “very unusual meeting” in the last 48 hours, pulling together the entire “major crimes unit” of 30 to 40 prosecutors to get them on board with the conspiracy theory. With line prosecutors refusing to participate, the 30 new subpoenas that have been issued were reportedly signed off by a high-ranking political appointee in the office, Manuel Raboso, the #3 executive assistant U.S. Attorney—a move that “violates all sorts of procedures.”

The situation creates an ethical minefield for Judge Aileen Cannon. “Just the appearance of impropriety,” Popok argues, “the appearance that she’s being manipulated… the appearance that her integrity has been challenged” should be enough for her to “disqualify” or “recuse herself” from the case. If she were to do so, the case would be reassigned, likely to a judge in West Palm Beach or Miami, derailing the entire alleged plot.

Why Ty Cobb doesn't buy Judge Cannon's 'incompetence'

The federal judiciary in the Southern District of Florida, Popok notes, is filled with “very fine federal judges” who will likely “not have it” if Kenyon proceeds with this plan, which threatens to “rip the integrity away from his own office.”

This alleged plot represents one of the most direct and shocking efforts to date by the Trump administration to turn the levers of American justice against its political rivals. It transforms the Department of Justice from an independent body into a personal weapon of retribution, targeting a former president based on a debunked conspiracy theory. As the story unfolds, all eyes will be on Fort Pierce, Florida, to see if Judge Aileen Cannon recuses herself or agrees to preside over what may be one of the most politically explosive and ethically compromised legal battles in modern American history.
