Final preparations are underway before season 28’s celebrity coaches — Snoop Dogg, Reba McEntire, Michael Bublé and Niall Horan — arrive on the set of “The Voice” to begin filming the new season, which will air from September through December.

The coaches were announced in mid-May, and by early June, NBC’s ticket manager had opened up seats to tapings of the season 28 Blind Auditions, set to begin on the morning of July 7, 2025. NBC has not officially revealed details on any future seasons of “The Voice,” but its ticket manager just dropped the biggest clue yet that a season 29 is in the works.

Season 29 Blind Auditions Will Take Place in July

During the week of June 23, ticket manager iota released tickets for fans to attend tapings of the season 29 Blind Auditions, held at “The Voice” soundstage in Universal City, California. Free tickets are available for show tapings at 10:45 a.m. or 4 p.m. on July 21; 10:30 a.m. or 3:45 p.m. on July 22, and 10:30 a.m. or 3:45 p.m. on July 23.

The announcement does not reveal which celebrities will be coaches, but does say, “Music fans, rejoice: The Voice is returning for Season 29! Four-time Emmy Award-winning musical competition series ‘The Voice’ returns with the strongest vocalists from across the country invited to compete in the show’s newest season.”

This filming schedule is reminiscent of the last two years on “The Voice,” with two seasons filmed back-to-back. Interestingly, though, the season 28 coaches will have four days of twice-a-day tapings on July 6, 7, 8, and 9, while only three dates are currently set for season 29.

Coach John Legend, who just wrapped his 10th season on the show, explained the new schedule to former “The Voice” coach Kelly Clarkson on her talk show in February 2025, telling her, “The way we’re taping these days, we do two seasons per, like, summer and early fall. So even when you’re away, you’re really not away.”

Filming Blind Auditions in July Can Create Long Process for Contestants

While the filming schedule might be beneficial to the coaches, it can make for a very long road for the contestants. Season 27 runner-up Jaelen Johnston revealed in mid-June that he competed on “The Voice” for nearly two years.

While speaking to the Chamber of Commerce in his hometown of Derby, Kansas, the 22-year-old said that he earned an “open audition call back” in September 2023, which led to about “15 more Zoom calls,” before he was flown to Los Angeles to prepare for the season 27 Blind Auditions, which were held in July 2024.

Johnston got three chair turns from coaches Kelsea Ballerini, Adam Levine and Bublé, and he eventually chose Ballerini to be his coach. But he couldn’t tell anyone about his successful audition, even as he returned to tape other rounds in the fall, since season 27 didn’t premiere until February 3, 2025.
