DWTS’ Derek Hough’s wife Hayley reveals massive head scar after brain surgery as she opens up about ‘life-changing’ year

‘You are a miracle and I am praying for you every day’

DEREK Hough’s wife Hayley has shared a new video to commemorate the crazy year she’s had.

She shared the video on her Instagram Feed on New Year’s Eve to show off some of her “life-changing moments.”

Hayley, 29, showed a clip of her dancing with Derek, 38, under a disco ball as fake snow fell all around them on the set.

She was wearing an elegant white dress that fit perfectly into the winter scene.

Other clips and photos of her dancing with her DWTS husband were also included in the montage video.

Of course, she also included several photos and videos from her and Derek’s wedding day where they were also seen dancing.

Pictures and videos of her two dogs and three cats were highlighted in the video as well.

Finally, after all the happy and dance-filled clips, she shared a video that showed the back of her head being held together with staples.

Her long brown hair was cut extremely short so she could undergo brain surgery.

There were also videos of the therapy and treatments that she received after her procedure.

She captioned the social media post: “2023 was a year of the highest of highs and some life-changing moments.

“I’m so grateful for the people in my life who have stood by me through it ALL.

“Cheers to a beautiful new year of new adventures, lots of love, and so much more life to live.”

BLINDING LOVE

Hayley received a ton of love and support from fans – and other stars- in the comment section of her Instagram post.

Jennifer Love Hewitt said: “You are a miracle and I am praying for you every day.

“So excited to see all you will do in this new year! And so beyond happy you are okay.”

Julianne Hough wrote: “You give a whole new meaning to ‘I Lived’ – what a beautiful year but an even more stunning life ahead! So grateful to be your sister.”

Her husband commented: “My courageous quiet warrior wife. What a year we have had. So many things to be thankful for.

“This video brings me to tears. I’m so in awe of you and more in love with you each day.”

THE SURGERY

On December 7, Derek revealed what happened to Hayley after a stop on their tour in Washington, DC the night before.

“At the end of last night’s tour performance in Washington D.C., my wife, Hayley became disoriented and was taken to the hospital,” he started the post.

“She was diagnosed with a cranial hematoma from a burst blood vessel and required an emergency craniectomy.”

He said in the Instagram post that Hayley was in stable condition.

Later that month, she underwent a second brain surgery.

“With immense relief, gratitude, and overwhelming joy I’d like to share that Hayley’s cranioplasty surgery has been successfully completed as planned,” Derek started the post.

“My sincere appreciation goes to the exceptional medical team. Their expertise and steady hands were pivotal in this journey, ensuring a smooth and successful surgery.

“Especially Dr. Mai who not only performed the surgery but was also the one who saved her life 2 weeks ago,” he went on.

He concluded: “We are profoundly touched by the outpouring of support and prayers from each of you.

“Your thoughts, prayers, and positive energy have been a source of strength and comfort for us during this challenging time.”
