Kelly Ripa called out a “repulsive” sex habit that her husband Mark Consuelos is a fan of while making a July 15 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast.
While opening up about how the couple keep things steamy after 30 years of marriage, Ripa opened up about how the couple’s work schedule has worked in her favor.

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos aren’t shy when it comes to discussing their sex life on live TV, but according to Ripa, there’s one thing she’d take out of the bedroom forever. While making a July 15 appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, the Live With Kelly and Mark co-host opened up about a “repulsive” sex habit that Consuelos is a fan of—and how she’s managed to minimize it since they started working together.

While discussing how she and Consuelos keep things steamy after 30 years of marriage, the All My Children star spilled the beans on a sexual preference that she can’t stand: Morning sex. “I find it disgusting,” she admitted to host Amanda Hirsch, revealing that her husband would rather do the deed in the morning than at night. “He’s a guy. He’s never going to learn.”

When describing what exactly she found so unappealing about morning sex, Ripa—who shares son Michael, daughter Lola, and son Joaquin with the Riverdale actor—set the scene. She explained, “He wants to kiss. I have a retainer in. I’ve got to rip that out. And he’s got his nasal strips on. It’s like we are the most repulsive, disgusting [people]. I’m already pre-disgusted for tomorrow morning.”

While Ripa joked, “that dick is a brain of its own, and it doesn’t see the retainer,” she revealed that her efforts to transition their sex life to the nighttime had gotten an unexpected boost from the early call time of their ABC morning show. “I said to him, ‘Here’s the thing. There needs to be a yin and a yang here. It can’t always be your way,’” she recalled about a conversation she had with Consuelos once she became his co-host. “‘It feels like 90 percent of the time it’s your way, and now that we work together every day, it’s gonna have to sometimes be my way. And my way’s at night only.’”

While Ripa might have had to call the shots early on, she joked that Consuelos had nearly come around to her way of thinking. “The greatest thing about this job, this thing has almost repulsed him from morning time during the work week—which is like a miracle,” she said, quipping, “May this show last until he suffers from erectile dysfunction. He’s in his mid-50s now. Shouldn’t that be happening now? I was promised.”

It’s not the first time the longtime couple have opened up about their bedroom habits, as Ripa previously opened up about how “keep hot for each other” while they’re apart.

The star revealed that the couple took part in “ludicrous” sex rituals to stay connected from afar, joking during a March 2023 episode of her Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast, “I became so alarmed at my appearance over FaceTime that I started hanging the computer on a ladder, so that I could look up to Mark [and] he did not have to see what gravity was actually doing.”
