It looks like talent runs deep in Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale’s family—and the next generation is stepping into the spotlight.
Zuma Rossdale, the 15-year-old son of the pop-rock power couple, made his country music debut this week in a surprise performance that wowed fans and turned heads. The teen took the stage at none other than Ole Red, Blake Shelton’s bar in Tishomingo, Oklahoma, with his famous stepdad proudly by his side.
Before Zuma even strummed a note, Shelton introduced him to an excited crowd, helping him adjust his mic and settle in. Dressed like a true country crooner in a cowboy hat, boots, and jeans, Zuma perched on a stool, guitar in hand, and confidently launched into Zach Bryan’s “Oklahoma Smokeshow.”
Shelton, 48, looked like the ultimate proud stepdad, smiling ear to ear as he watched Zuma’s heartfelt performance unfold just feet away. Fan videos from the night quickly made their way to social media, where users raved about Zuma’s stage presence and vocals.
“Oh my god, he’s SO good!” one person gushed on X (formerly Twitter). Another called his voice “incredible,” as clips of his solo debut spread like wildfire.
This isn’t the first time a Rossdale kid has impressed the crowd at Shelton’s country venue. Last year, Zuma’s older brother, Kingston, now 18, also made his musical debut at the bar, rocking a laid-back look in a Carhartt tee and jeans as he belted out tunes to an enthusiastic audience. He ended his set with a sweet shoutout: “Love you guys, thank you for being here! It means everything to me.”
Zuma, Kingston, and their 10-year-old brother, Apollo, are Stefani’s children with her ex-husband, Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale. The couple split in 2015 after nearly 13 years of marriage. Just a year later, Stefani had found new love with Shelton, her fellow coach on The Voice.
The pair tied the knot in July 2021, and Shelton has since embraced the role of stepfather. He recently opened up to Entertainment Tonight about how raising Gwen’s sons has given him “a different kind of self-worth,” sharing his passion for country life and music with the boys—especially out on his Oklahoma ranch.
As for Rossdale? The rock legend might not be the biggest fan of twangy tunes, but he’s still in his son’s corner.
In a candid interview with Us Weekly, he joked, “Country music is the last thing I want to hear in my house… But that’s how much I love him. I’ll support him making any music—even the blues.”
With Zuma officially catching “the country bug,” it seems like Shelton’s influence is strong—and the next generation of performers is already making waves. Whether it’s rock, pop, or country, one thing’s clear: the Stefani-Rossdale kids are born to shine.
