‘Dancing With the Stars’ pro-turned-judge Derek Hough took time for a moment of reflection on what is ‘sacred’ to him.

It’s always good to remember what is truly important in life, and Dancing With the Stars pro-turned-judge Derek Hough did just that on Monday, July 7, posting a beautiful video to his Instagram stories of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which is a small city in northwest Idaho that is home to Lake Coeur d’Alene, where Hough’s family has been going to recharge since before he was born.

“This lake has been a part of my life since before I was even born. It’s woven into my family’s history and legacy, holding countless memories from every stage of my life. No matter where I’ve gone or what I’ve experienced, this place has always been where I return to find peace and grounding. It’s sacred and special, and it’ll always have a place in my heart. I’m so thankful for the reminder it gives me of what truly matters,” wrote Hough.

His post comes on the heels of another Instagram story where he wrote, “My heart aches for those in Texas. Praying and pouring love into all the shattered hearts who lost their loved ones.”

Hough is obviously referring to the horrific tragedy that unfolded in Texas on July 4 when a slow-moving storm dropped catastrophic levels of rain in a short period of time, leading to flash flooding that killed over 100 people, according to the latest report from the Associated Press.

Hough’s family is on one of its annual trips to their houseboat on Lake Coeur d’Alene, which Derek’s younger sister Julianne Hough explained on her Instagram stories has been in their family for over 100 years. Julianne also posted some hilarious videos of Derek dancing on the dock, and some great footage of herself wakeboarding behind a speedboat.

The dancing Hough siblings are the two youngest of five — they have three older sisters named Sharee, 47, Marabeth, 45, and Katherine, 42. Derek is the fourth child; he just turned 40 in May, and Julianne is the baby at 36 – she turns 37 on July 20. The Hough family frequently vacations together, as evidenced by their hilarious videos from the family trip to Disney World back in May.
