A woke Ford executive has posted a bizarre online rant detailing how he confronted an elderly plane passenger for watching Fox News on a flight.

Barrett Evans, 34, who works as the motor company’s Chief Learning Officer according to his LinkedIn, posted a lengthy story about the incident on Threads.

Writing on his profile ‘chivalryandchampagne’, the exec said: ‘Elderly passenger on my flight from San Diego yesterday enjoyed Fox ‘News’ for the entire ride.

‘Deplaning and I notice he and his wife getting into their airport wheelchairs to be pushed to next gate. My filter was malfunctioning…

‘”Love to see you supporting DEI.”

‘”Not me!”

‘”Yes – you.

‘That wheelchair, and the human pushing it, are provided at no direct cost to you – rather by a subsidized cost attributed to every passenger in this airport. Provided to level the playing field – for you.”‘

Evans appears to have assumed that the Fox News viewer was a conservative who’d be against diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) measures which have been targeted by the Trump administration.

He continued: ‘Not all passengers need assistance. But for those who do—for whatever reason—the service ensures they can access the airport, navigate security, and board their plane safely and with dignity.

‘The cost being shared ensures that the service is available to those who need it, not just those who could afford to pay extra.

‘This is a real-world infrastructure of equity in action: acknowledging that different people have different needs, and creating systems to support those differences fairly.

The post, made on Friday, has since gone viral. It has been liked close to 100,000 times as of Monday morning, with over 4,000 people sharing it and almost 4,000 commenting.

But replies were mixed.

Some hailed Barrett for calling out what they agreed was an apparent injustice, while others condemned him for being antagonistic and nosey.

‘If everyone paid attention to their own screens and lives, world would be a far better place to live,’ one person wrote.

‘As a human with vision it is… impossible? to not see what the passenger in front of and across from me has on their screen,’ Barrett hit back.

‘I gladly read my own book and watched my own screen.’

Fox News is anti-DEI and has celebrated moves by Donald Trump’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) to slash millions in DEI contracts.

A Fox opinion writer also recently penning a piece called ‘Death of DEI is a massive reminder there are better ways to run a business’.

DEI measures have been promoted as a way of leveling the playing field for groups of people more likely to face disadvantage, including racial minorities and LGBT people.

Real world examples include prestigious public schools banning admissions tests, or scrapping advanced math programs because they attract too many white and Asian students.

Some American states and cities have also downgraded how they deal with crimes or scrapped cash bail in a bid to advance racial fairness.

Perhaps most controversially of all, transgender women have been allowed to compete alongside female athletes to boost inclusion.

Supporters say DEI measures help minority groups overcome obstacles which are beyond their control and make it harder to get on in life.

Critics say many of the measures are exclusionary, unfair and go down the easy route of lowering standards across the board to give an artificial impression of fairness, rather than boosting everyone’s achievements.
