Jamie Lee Curtis has ‘struggled with the idea of love’ after seeing her parents split and so many family members get divorced.

The 63-year-old actress’ famous parents Tony Curtis and Janet Leigh separated when she was just three years old.

And although she respects their ‘deep love and ambition’ their break-up and a total of ’13 divorces’ in her family have influenced her views on relationships.

Sharing a picture of her mother and father, she wrote on Instagram: ‘My sister sent me this. Once in a while when their images find me unexpectedly, I’m caught by not only their extreme beauty but their deep love and ambition.

‘As the product of 13 divorces in my immediate family I have often struggled with the idea of love, what happens to it?’ the True Lies actress added.

‘There are only a couple reminders to me that I was born from love and not resentment, competition, jealousy and rancor which are the cornerstones of any unpleasant divorce.’

The Halloween actress also said: ‘I also forget that they were famous and loved worldwide. Happy hump day Janet and Tony. Thanks for love and life!’

Her parents were some of the most famous stars of their day.

Janet Leigh became a superstar when she starred as the beautiful blonde victim slashed in a shower in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 horror film Psycho.

Janet also starred in Holiday Affair with Robert Mitchum in 1949 and The Manchurian Candidate in 1962.

She died in 2004 in Beverly Hills.

The swarthy movie idol also appeared in 1958’s The Defiant Ones and 1960’s Spartacus.

Curtis passed away in 2010 in Nevada.

Jamie has previously opened up about having two famous film stars as her parents, and how she learned from the highs and lows of their careers.

She said: ‘I’m the child of movie stars. I watched my parents get facelifts and neck lifts.

‘I watched their work diminish, I watched their fame not diminish. And the contradiction of a lot of fame, but not a lot of work, is really hard to navigate for people.

‘Very hard to be famous but not be doing the thing that made you famous. And that, for the rest of your life, you’re famous for something you did a long time ago, and you chase that attention.’

Jamie has steadily worked on the big and small screen since breaking out in 1978’s Halloween, and has continued to enjoy roles in the likes of Knives Out, Scream Queens and recent horror sequel Halloween Kills.

She added: ‘I wanted to be mindful, as the daughter of stars, And so, I was hedging my bets, ’cause I don’t want to be the person pining away for work and not getting it. It’s humiliating and it’s a hard business. It’s all about what you look like.’
