Wheel of Fortune fans demand Ryan Seacrest ‘be fired’ after host makes massive mistake in premiere episode

Ryan made quite the splash in his Wheel of Fortune hosting debut

RYAN Seacrest has Wheel of Fortune fans up in arms after he made a major mistake during the show’s season premiere.

Ryan debuted as the new host on Monday night after taking over for Pat Sajak, who helmed the show for over 40 years.

The highly-anticipated Season 42 premiere attracted many viewers eager to see how Ryan, 49, performed alongside co-host Vanna White, 67.

While the American Idol host received upstanding reviews on social media, some called for Ryan to be fired over one significant flub.

Fans noticed the TV star failed to correct a contestant who mispronounced the word “ripened” while solving a puzzle.

Ryan appeared to ignore the mishap and granted the player the win.

FANS’ DISAPPOINTMENT

However, fans couldn’t get past the blunder and thought it should put an end to Ryan’s WoF hosting career.

“I thought he said the wrong word but when Ryan said he was correct, I assumed I misheard,” one fan wrote on Instagram.

“Why would the producers allow him to win the puzzle when he was wrong? Not a good way to start the new season especially with a new host,” they added.

“I don’t like the fact that Terry mispronounced the winning trip puzzle and he won it !!!! Pat would have said, ‘I’m sorry, Terry that’s not the answer,’” another echoed.

“Really surprised that the mistake wasn’t caught. He definitely said ‘ripeing’ instead of ‘ripened,’ a third pointed out.

“I agree – I agree, Ryan is fired after the first episode,” someone else demanded.

The full answer to the puzzle was “Vine-ripened tomatoes,” which the contestant earned a vacation to Italy for guessing correctly.

Devoted WoF fans have been critical of Ryan succeeding Pat as host of the show following his retirement in June.

Some thought the former Live! host disrespected Pat during his opening monologue by not mentioning his name.

Last week, The U.S. Sun exclusively revealed that Ryan wasn’t Pat’s first choice for a replacement.

According to a studio source, Pat stayed out of the search for a new host, and Ryan “acts like he has Pat’s support.”

The insider also noted that that could change down the road depending on the show’s ratings.

Things reportedly started off rocky between Ryan and Vanna as well, as they tried to find their groove as co-hosts.

However, Vanna made it clear she’s not going anywhere and plans to continue her reign on the show.

During an appearance on Good Morning America, Vanna confessed she’s staying on the show “as long as it’s on.”

Vanna recently signed a contract to co-host through the 2025-2026 season.
