Tom Sandoval, star of Vanderpump Rules, recently opened up about how he maintains communication with his ex-girlfriend Ariana Madix following their highly publicized and messy breakup. In a surprising revelation during an appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Sandoval shared that he can only contact Madix through one specific, formal channel: her entertainment lawyer.

When host Andy Cohen asked whether the two were still in touch, Sandoval replied plainly, “Through her entertainment lawyer.” The response stunned fans and viewers alike, hinting at just how fractured their relationship remains months after the infamous “Scandoval” cheating scandal.

Sandoval and Madix were in a nine-year relationship before it abruptly ended when news broke that Tom had engaged in an affair with their castmate Raquel Leviss. Since then, the two have not only stopped speaking directly but have also implemented strict boundaries—especially when they were still living in the same house post-breakup.

According to Sandoval, any necessary communication—such as scheduling household tasks, gym use, or logistics—is handled through Madix’s legal representation. This arrangement removes all direct emotional involvement, a move that many fans see as necessary given the tension and fallout from the affair. Sandoval noted that while it sounds cold, it’s the only workable method for them to co-exist without conflict.

Back when they were still sharing the same house, Sandoval revealed there was even a middleman to manage day-to-day communications. “We have a go-between. We text when we’re coming and going. … The middleman — he runs much of the household,” Sandoval said in a separate interview. That person was reportedly Ariana’s assistant, who helped coordinate the exes’ movements and reduce the chances of unwanted face-to-face encounters.

Fans may recall that Ariana expressed during Vanderpump Rules Season 11 that she had not looked Sandoval in the eye since the scandal erupted. She also stated firmly that there was “no friendship” and no need to have contact with him. In fact, Ariana has said in multiple interviews that the betrayal left her feeling so violated that even basic communication felt intolerable.

Despite the cold nature of their arrangement, many viewers have praised both parties for handling their separation with firm boundaries rather than explosive confrontations. Sandoval, for his part, has acknowledged that Ariana no longer wants to be associated with him. “She wants nothing to do with me. She won’t talk to me,” he said. In another emotional moment on Vanderpump Rules, he even begged her to “leave me behind,” signaling his acceptance of the situation.

Tom Sandoval and Ariana Madix's Relationship Timeline

Sandoval still resides in the house they once shared, while Madix has since moved out. He admitted that while they lived together post-breakup, it was incredibly uncomfortable, and using a third-party mediator became essential for maintaining peace. The situation wasn’t ideal, but it allowed them to navigate shared responsibilities without igniting more drama.

Interestingly, the way Sandoval and Madix have structured their communication has sparked debate among fans. Some see it as a sign of maturity—using professional, non-confrontational means to protect emotional well-being. Others feel it’s a clear indication of just how deep the divide runs between them, a rift likely too large to ever mend.

Regardless of where one stands, it’s undeniable that the use of a lawyer as a communication channel is both unusual and revealing. It speaks to the level of emotional damage left behind after the scandal and shows how even celebrities, often known for public outbursts and messy drama, sometimes choose restraint and silence.

The entire situation underscores how painful and complicated public breakups can be—especially when both parties remain in the spotlight. For Tom Sandoval, having to go through an attorney just to pass a message along is likely humbling. For Ariana Madix, it’s a protective barrier that allows her to move forward without reopening old wounds.

In the end, this formal channel of communication is not just a way to avoid awkward texts—it’s symbolic of a total severance of intimacy, trust, and friendship. While both continue their lives and careers—Ariana recently appeared on Dancing with the Stars and Tom is busy touring with his band—one thing is clear: any bridge that once connected them is now closely guarded by legal boundaries.

And for now, that’s the only way they can communicate.
