Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman’ Season 2 Just Struck Oil With Earth-Shaking Update

Ali Larter and Billy Bob Thornton in Landman

Paramount+ has had quite a week, so they figured they needed to let us know that they’re ready to pump another barrel of Texas-sized drama into your queue — and this time, the oil is even slicker. The streamer announced today that Landman Season 2 will premiere Sunday, November 16, 2025, bringing Taylor Sheridan’s latest hit back into the spotlight after a record-breaking first season.

The modern-day oil boom saga, inspired by the Boomtown podcast from Imperative Entertainment and Texas Monthly, is co-created by Sheridan and Christian Wallace. Season 1 proved to be more than just another entry in Sheridan’s sprawling TV empire — it became the #1 Paramount+ Original ever on the service, drove the most household engagement in platform history, and pulled in an eye-popping 35 million global streaming viewers for its premiere episode.

It also secured some serious awards love, with Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton scoring a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Tommy Norris, the morally complicated oilman at the center of the story. Thornton will return for Season 2 alongside an equally stacked roster: Oscar nominee Demi Moore, Oscar nominee Andy Garcia, Oscar nominee Sam Elliott, Ali Larter, Jacob Lofland, Michelle Randolph, Paulina Chávez, Kayla Wallace, Mark Collie, James Jordan, and Colm Feore.

What Is ‘Landman’ About?

Taylor Sheridan's Oil Drama 'Landman' Renewed For Season 2 At Paramount+

Set in the rough-and-tumble boomtowns of West Texas, Landman dives into the high-stakes world of roughnecks, wildcat billionaires, and a boom so massive it’s reshaping the climate, economy, and geopolitics. It’s an upstairs-downstairs look at the people chasing fortune in the oil fields — and those making the rules at the top.

The series is produced by Paramount Television Studios, 101 Studios, and Sheridan’s Bosque Ranch Productions, with Sheridan, David C. Glasser, David Hutkin, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, Christian Wallace, Thornton, Geyer Kosinski, Michael Friedman, and Stephen Kay executive producing. Dan Friedkin and Jason Hoch (Imperative Entertainment) and J.K. Nickell and Megan Creydt (Texas Monthly) also serve as executive producers, with Tommy Turtle as co-executive producer.

Landman Season 2 Update Is More Disappointing For The Taylor Sheridan Show Given What's Going On With Yellowstone Season 6

With Season 2 now officially on the books, Landman only adds to Sheridan’s ever-expanding Paramount+ portfolio, which includes 1923, 1883, Lioness, Mayor of Kingstown, Tulsa King, Lawmen: Bass Reeves, and the upcoming NOLA King starring Samuel L. Jackson.

Landman Season 1 broke streaming records for Paramount+ when it debuted last year, so stay tuned to see how much oil they strike this time. Season 1 is streaming now. Season 2 begins on November 16.
