Jeremiah, who was eliminated on episode 18 (June 22) of the Peacock reality dating competition show, talked about Yulissa’s exit on the Speedy Morman Show on Monday, June 30. Many were wondering if the cast was aware of her exit and the reasoning for it. He revealed that the cast had no clue about the reason for Yulissa’s abrupt departure from the villa in the middle of the night.

“They personally never told me anything. They never told us in the villa.” Jeremiah said to the journalist Speedy Morman.

“They said she left for personal reasons — I can say that,” he added. “I found out later after getting my phone back that it was because of whatever happened.”

The 25-year-old model went on to confirm that there was no offscreen goodbye for Yulissa and that the cast of islanders found out she was gone when they woke up the next morning.

Yulissa first came to the villa as one of the original islanders on season seven of Love Island USA, like Jeremiah. She was gone in the second episode of the show that aired on June 4 and viewers learned with narrator Iain Stirling said she “has left the villa” with no explanation.

Podcast clips from 2021 of the 27-year-old Miami native saying the n-word multiple times resurfaced and circulated online. The clips were obtained by TMZ showing Yulissa using the racial slur. The resurfaced clips caused outrage among Love Island USA fans as they promised to vote her off the island as well as demanded the show take her off.

The series hasn’t confirmed the reason for her departure but many fans have connected it to the footage. On June 6, Yulissa broke her silence and made a public apology for using the n-word on Instagram

Yulissa elaborated that she was was speaking “casually in conversation, not thinking deeply or critically about what I was saying” on the podcast.

She added, “But that doesn’t take away from how wrong it was. The truth is, I didn’t know better then, but I do now. I’ve taken the time to reflect, to learn, and to grow from that moment.”

She went on to say that she “changed a lot since then” and clarified that her Instagram statement was her own voice and words as there had been “fake statements” floating around written or said by others that “that don’t reflect me or my heart.” She concluded apologizing “to those who are disappointed or offended”
