Jimmy Kimmel Just Exposed Trump’s “Ultimate” Media Tactic, And It’s Genuinely Shocking How Many Times He’s Done It
Jimmy Kimmel said President Donald Trump has a go-to move when it comes to big decisions: stall for time.
The president went to it again this week while trying to decide on military intervention in Iran.
“Trump gave Iran what he called the ‘ultimate ultimatum,’ which is kind of like the ‘final finale,’ but scarier,” Kimmel said on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “He really enjoys making threats, and he loves attaching them to timelines.”
Trump said he’d make a decision on Iran within two weeks.
“It’s always two weeks,” Kimmel pointed out. “For a guy whose catchphrase was ‘You’re fired,’ no one has ever given more two weeks’ notice than Donald J. Trump.”
Kimmel rolled a minute-long supercut video of Trump promising various things within two weeks, ending with a vow to sign a new health care plan into law ― also in two weeks.
“That was July 19, 2020,” Kimmel noted. “We’re still waiting for him to sign that health care plan, and on almost all of the other stuff, too.”

‘Star Wars’ Actor Slams Trump During ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Opening Monologue

Jimmy Kimmel Live took an unexpectedly serious direction when Star Wars’ Diego Luna filled in for the show’s regular host on a recent episode of the series.
Assuming temporary guest hosting duties from Kimmel, Luna — best known for starring in the universally well-received Disney+ series, Andor — anchored his monologue around the ongoing controversies surrounding President Trump’s immigration policies, which has been characterized by increased ICE raids across the nation.
“Tonight, I want to address an important issue that is happening here in Los Angeles and all around the United States,” Luna said on Monday’s episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live. “With everything going on in this country around immigration and authoritarian policies of Donald Trump, it is no small thing that a Mexican is hosting such an important show. It’s a big deal and I really hope not to f**k it up.”
Opening up about his admiration for immigrants, the 45-year-old Rogue One actor then called out Trump’s “hate speech” for transforming Americans’ view of immigrants from outside the U.S.
“I have never been able to fully understand how it is that someone like Donald Trump is able to acquire this level of power,” Luna said. “I always struggle to understand how his hate speech can take root in a country whose nature has always been a welcoming one. Today, many people are feeling persecuted. Far too many people live in fear. Fear of taking their kids to school or going to places where they earn an honest living.”
Continuing on, Luna stated, “Politicians have been dozing on this problem because it’s easier than acknowledging it. Because this country benefits from the work of immigrants but refuses to recognize their importance. That is what needs to change. It’s about acknowledging the works of millions and how unfair it is that they have to live in hiding. The only solution is clear now, and it’s been clear for decades, give them a path to legal certainty.”
The longtime Star Wars actor concluded his impassioned message by encouraging viewers at home to contact their local representatives, as well as supporting organizations like Public Counsel and Kids in Need of Defense.
