On Wednesday evening, David Muir was back doing what he does best: delivering the latest news and updates to the nation. However, it seems that this time, one major story was missed and viewers certainly weren’t happy about it.

The 51-year-old journalist kick-started the long-running ABC news program with a breaking news story on a shooting that had taken place in York County. “We begin here tonight with the breaking news, authorities responding to reports of multiple police officers shot in York County, Pennsylvania, about an hour outside Lancaster near the Maryland State Line, ” David told viewers.

“There is late word coming in tonight. At least three officers are dead. Law enforcement officials telling ABC News, police were serving a warrant when the gunman opened fire,” he added.

David concluded, “There was also news coming in on the suspect. Schools and residents were told to shelter in place. Governor Josh Shapiro is on the scene at this hour. ABC News with Whit Johnson leading us off.” The screen then panned to Whit’s report, showing the scenes from Pennsylvania as he gave viewers the lowdown on the latest.

A clip of the York County shooting story was shared to ABC World News Tonight’s Instagram page along with the caption, “A swarm of law enforcement descended on a York County, Pennsylvania, neighborhood after multiple officers were shot and at least three were killed while serving a warrant. At least two officers were transported to a nearby hospital. @whitjohnsontv reports.”

Fans were quick to express their upset over the shooting but also made their feelings clear about something else. “Where’s the story about Jimmy?” one viewer asked, as a second said, “Lol ofc not reporting on canceling kimmel.”

A third person pointed out, “Meanwhile ABC Disney murders freedom of speech,” with a fourth declaring, “Will be cancelling my suscription to Disney +. As a european is scary to see what IS happening on the USA. Jimmy just critizised the republican party ,he didn’t say anything bad about Charlie kirk.”

Others went as far as leaving comments like “Boycott ABC” and “ABC = VOMIT” in an apparent effort to express their fury over another story developing in the popular network’s background.

The story in question was that ABC had suspended Jimmy Kimmel Live! after he made comments about conservative media personality Charlie Kirk in the wake of his murder last week.

A representative of ABC network announced Wednesday that Jimmy’s show would be “pre-empted indefinitely.” ABC’s news comes after Nextstar, which happens to be one of the largest owners of local TV stations in America and includes 28 ABC affiliates, said it will pre-empt the late-night program for the “immediate future,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Nexstar strongly objects to recent comments made by Mr. Kimmel concerning the killing of Charlie Kirk and will replace the show with other programming in its ABC-affiliated markets,” Nexstar said in a recent press release.

The comments that have gotten Jimmy in trouble were made during the opening monologue of Monday night’s instalment of Jimmy Kimmel Live! “The MAGA Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” he said.
