Jimmy Kimmel reveals he’s a grandfather as oldest daughter gives birth – and reveals sweet name and meaning behind it

He also revealed why the show was canceled on Monday night

TALK show legend Jimmy Kimmel has shared with his viewers that he is now a proud grandfather to a baby granddaughter!

The 57-year-old host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! canceled his show on Monday but revealed the reason why on Tuesday – with the sweet news tying in seamlessly.

Opening his show, Jimmy revealed that he had canceled the night before because he had become a grandpa.

In his opening monologue, Jimmy revealed that his daughter, 33, had welcomed her first child.

Katie Kimmel and her husband Will Logsdon welcomed a baby girl on Monday, with Jimmy deciding to be there instead of his own show.

Returning to work, Jimmy began the show by saying: “I am the host of the show. Thank you, thank you for coming, thank you for watching, thank you for joining us here in Hollywood.”

He then said: “We are back to work after an extra day off.

“You know, we were supposed to have a show last night, but we didn’t because my daughter had a baby last night.”

He then added: “My oldest daughter – you know, people don’t realize, people that know I have two little kids, they don’t know I have two older kids.

“My oldest daughter, she’s 83-years-old,” Jimmy joked, as the crowd roared with laughter.

“Her name is Katie,” he continued.

“Katie and her husband Will had a baby girl right at the time we shoot our show last night. So I decided to be there instead of here.”

He then revealed the baby’s name and meaning behind it – after making a joke (or two), of course.

Jimmy said: “The baby’s very healthy. Her name, they gave her a very cute name.

“Her name is Melania,” Jimmy joked. “It’s Melanie Thee Stallion…her name is Patti. Like the melt, but with an ‘I’ not a ‘Y’.”

He later added that Patti‘s middle name is Joan, which is his mother’s name.

Jimmy shares Katie and his eldest son Kevin, 31, with ex-wife Gina Maddy.

Jimmy and Gina were married from 1988 to 2003.

In 2013, he married wife Molly McNearney and they share two kids: daughter Jane, 10, and son Billy, 8.

Jimmy’s daughter Katie and her husband Will got married in September 2020.
