Mr. Bean “Steals the Wave” of the 2012 Olympics: When 90,000 People Laughed in the Middle of a Solemn Stadium

At the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Olympics, amidst the solemn atmosphere, where more than 90,000 live spectators and billions of global television viewers were present, an unforgettable moment took place – and not from any athlete, but from a man holding a “brick” mobile phone, with a straight face in the middle of a prestigious symphony orchestra: Mr. Bean.

The legend of non-verbal humor – Rowan Atkinson – made the entire Olympic Stadium burst into laughter when he transformed into a “heartless” keyboard player participating in Chariots of Fire with the London Symphony Orchestra. While the orchestra was passionately performing the legendary music, Mr.

Bean Bean simply… kept the same note, kept blowing his nose, looked at his old-fashioned phone, and even held an umbrella over his head as if he was worried about rain.

The performance reached its comical peak when a fake video showed Mr. Bean “running” with the athletes in Chariots of Fire – but of course, in an unusual way: cheating by taking a taxi and finishing first.

Although it was a short skit, Mr. Bean’s appearance became one of the most memorable highlights of the 2012 London Olympics.

In an event known for its sacred spirit and internationalism, he brought a clear message: laughter is a universal language – it has no words, no borders, no age.

Rowan Atkinson, with the Mr. Bean logo. Bean, represents not only Britain, but also the sophisticated comedy culture that has united three generations of audiences around the world for over 30 years.
