When will the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic get the first trailer? Here’s what we know

Michael Jackson, who is often dubbed as the “King of Pop” by the media, was a singer, songwriter, and dancer. A biopic on the deceased pop star is in the works, which is slated to be released on April 24, 2026. The film has Jaafar Jackson, who is the real-life nephew of MJ, portraying his role in the forthcoming film.

Antoine Fuqua is serving as the director, who is known for helming action films like Training Day, Olympus Has Fallen, The Equalizer trilogy, and Tears of the Sun, among others. Lately, it has been reported that the film’s official trailer might get released in November.

Here’s when the Michael Jackson biopic trailer might release

Hollywood is finally making a biographical film on pop icon Michael Jackson. Recently, Puck reported that the trailer of this film, called Michael, is expected to be released on November 21, 2025. The trailer will be attached to the print of Disney’s Wicked: For Good. It is not yet known if the makers will make the trailer available on the internet prior to that.

The film was initially set to release on April 18, 2025, but was delayed due to production issues. The report of this biopic being in development can be traced back to 2019. It was officially announced in early 2022. Antoine Fuqua was attached as the director the next year.

Jaafar Jackson, who is the real-life nephew of Michael Jackson, is portraying Michael Jackson in the film. The shooting officially began in January 2024 after being pushed to the 2023 Hollywood strike. The filming concluded in May that same year, with some portions being shot in the month of June.

John Logan has written the script, while Graham King, John Branca, and John McClain are the producers. Lionsgate will be handling the distribution in North America, while Universal Pictures will release it internationally. The film’s cast members include
