Wheel Of Fortune player misses out on $68,000 jackpot

Game show Queen Vanna White had an unexpected reunion with her former Wheel of Fortune co-host Pat Sajak after his recent exit from the hit game show.

On Tuesday, August 12, the TV personality, 68, shared a photo on Instagram of herself with Sajak, 78, after she visited Hawaii to see him in his play, Prescription: Murder.

“Had the pleasure of seeing Pat’s awesome performance on stage in Hawaii last weekend! It was great catching up and spending time with him! #foreverfriends,” White, whose own future on the game show is unknown, captioned the sweet post.

The first picture shows the pair embracing at a restaurant. For the outing, White is wearing a colorful short-sleeved shirt, and Sajak is wearing a simple long-sleeved white shirt.

She wrapped her arm around her long-time friend as he leaned on the table with his arms crossed.

Another photo showed White posing in front of the marquee at the Hawaii Theatre in Honolulu, where Sajak was performing.

Fans shared their excitement over the reunion in the comments section, with one writing, “The world’s favorite besties!!!”

Another commented, “Nice that y’all are staying in touch,” as a third praised, “Name a more perfect duo.”

Sajak replaced Chuck Woolery on Wheel of Fortune in 1981. White joined the show the following year as a co-host.

Sadly, Sajak exited the game show in June 2024 and was succeeded by Ryan Seacrest. However, he hosted Celebrity Wheel of Fortune until 2025.

In April, White opened up her off-screen relationship with Sajak after his exit, telling TV Insider that he is “still in my life.”

“I still see him! We’re friends,” she said, adding that they “have dinner” together sometimes.

Meanwhile, fans haven’t been filled with hope that White will co-host the hit game show for much longer, and she hasn’t exactly improved that.

Following her $10 million contract expiration, the 68-year-old gave a cryptic response to a question about her potential successors on the ABC game show following her $10 million contract expiration.

White has co-hosted Wheel of Fortune, most recently with Seacrest following Sajak’s retirement last year, for more than four decades, and in 2023 negotiated a two-year contract.

At the time, it was reported that her salary was bumped from $3 million to $10 million a year. However, it’s not been revealed whether or not the show’s longest-running host will stay on when her current contract finishes.

During an interview with Forbes, White was asked who she thinks would be a suitable replacement should she exit.

Suggesting the audience should have a say, she shared advice for the potential new host, saying, “Be yourself, and know the entire alphabet!”

White previously revealed how many days she works a year to earn her estimated $10 million salary. In a chat with Elvis Duran and The Morning Show, she said, “We film about 34 days a year. That’s it. But [we film] six shows a day. Come on… You could feel bad for me.”

Duran replied, “I do not feel sorry for you one bit. That sounds like a great job.”

After almost 42 years as the show’s host, she hinted to E! News last year that her job might soon be obsolete, sharing, “When I first started, I had to physically turn every letter. Then they switched to TV monitors, so I just had to touch the letters and they would light up.

“Now the board is operated by a laser. It’s like a flat screen. And when I go to touch the letter, the laser catches my movement. It’s crazy, right?”

As the reporter joked they might not even need her anymore, she exclaimed, “I’m telling you right now, don’t say it. They need me!”
