The Price Is Right’s host Drew Carey was shocked as a player’s unfair advantage didn’t help him win his game.

During an episode of the hit CBS game show, player Dale excitedly made his way to the stage after Carey revealed he’d guessed the nearest retail price of a laptop.

Announcer George Gray then told the contestant that he had the chance of winning trips to Colorado and Chicago if he won a game of Do the Math.

In the game, the contestant has a chance of winning two prizes and some money. The prizes and money are arranged in the form of a mathematical equation using their prices.

The equation has both a plus sign and a minus sign in the operator position. The contestant must identify whether the plus sign or the minus sign should be used to make the equation correct.

However, Dale had an unfair advantage playing the game. He revealed to Carey that he was a retired high school math teacher.

“I’m a retired high school math teacher, so if I get this wrong…” he joked before making his guess. “You’ll never hear the end of it,” Carey joked back.

Before exposing whether Dale was correct, Carey reiterated, “retired math teacher. Remember Canadian math,” referring to Dale’s native country.

Unfortunately, Dale’s math skills did not come in handy as he lost.

“I hope you don’t get too much gruff from your math friends,” Carey joked again. “Retired Canadian math teacher couldn’t win on Do the Math on Price Is Right, but he got a brand new computer!”

Later, contestant Barry stunned Carey and viewers when he guessed the price of a silver candy dish perfectly during a game of Back to 75, which sees players guess the prices of old items as they would’ve been priced in 1975.

He guessed the candy dish cost $19 back then and hit it on the nail, shocking everyone. “I was there!” he said. “That was amazing,” Carey commended the player.

Barry succeeded in pricing the objects without going over the allotted amount and won a trip to Thailand.

In the second half of the episode, player Riley guessed the nearest price of trampolines on Contestant’s Row.

If he won a game of Any Number, he could win a smartphone and a sedan, but his game also shocked the longtime host.

The contestant managed to guess all of the digits of the price of the sedan on the first try. “Oh my goodness,” Carey said before revealing if the last chosen number was correct. “For the clean sweep…” The board showed that Riley had won.

In the Showcase round, Nickolas and Melissa went head-to-head.

Nickolas, who previously earned $11k on the wheel earlier, bid $28k on $2k in cash, a trip to Las Vegas, and a sedan.

Melissa bid $24k on a greenhouse, home bar, and a trip to the Amalfi Coast.

Nickolas ended up being victorious as Melissa bid over her Showcase’s overall value. The player earned about $50k from the game show.
