Serena Williams’s Daughter Calls Out Her Mom’s Wardrobe Mishap in Hilarious Video

Serena Williams’s eldest daughter Olympia apparently takes after her tennis star mom with her playful, experimental fashion sense, whether she’s donning a pair of rhinestone cowboy boots or wearing scrunchies as anklets. However, Williams revealed that her 7-year-old mini-me isn’t afraid to keep her humble when a certain look isn’t working for her. Case in point: A hilarious new video where Olympia calls out—and steps in to fix—her mom’s outfit styling on camera.

Williams, who also shares 18-month-old daughter Adira with husband Alexis Ohanian, gave her 18.1 million Instagram followers a glimpse of her little stylist’s work in a clip shared on Tuesday, July 1. As the Williams-Ohanian clan enjoyed an early Fourth of July family vacation on the water, the tennis legend took a moment to share her outfit of the day—a plunging olive green vest with buttons running down the ruched front that exposed a string bikini underneath, paired with a matching miniskirt with a tiny slit on her left thigh—while posing and whipping her hair around on a glass yacht.

What could have been a sultry yacht clip quickly took a turn, however, when a tiny hand appeared on-screen and reached over to yank up the waistline of her mom’s skirt to cover her exposed midriff.

The pro athlete, who wore her balayage-blonde hair in a sleek half-up style and went glam with a pair of oversized rectangular sunglasses, could be seen playfully glancing down in dismay at the sartorially-savvy toddler’s re-styling and covering her stomach with her hands.

She made light of the humorous moment as she captioned the video, “@OlympiaOhanian always keeping me in check! 😮‍💨.” She quipped, “Someone please let her know it’s #summer ? 🙄”

Williams recently opened up about her daughters’ love of fashion—and how they police some of her style choices—in a March interview with InStyle. Speaking about her Janie and Jack collaboration, she revealed, “Growing up and wearing different outfits when I play tennis, and really just being a fashionista out there… I realized I don’t like blending in. I like things that are different. I like things that stand out.”

While she’s extended the same mindset when it comes to her kids, letting them pick out pieces that they love and that let their individuality shine, she revealed that Olympia will call her out. “She keeps me very humble,” Williams joked, adding, “She’ll say, ‘oh that’s ugly.’”
