Serena Williams has been through a lot of big changes over the past few years. She briefly took a step back from tennis in 2022, welcomed her second daughter, Adira, in 2023, and launched her makeup brand Wyn Beauty in 2024. She has been moving a mile-a-minute, but the tennis great says she started to notice something wasn’t quite right.

“After I had my daughter, I didn’t feel like myself,” Serena tells Women’s Health. “I was doing everything I knew, like eating right and working out, but something was still off. That’s what pushed me to take a closer look at what my body might be missing.”

The 43-year-old star athlete says she “started digging into” what her body was asking her for, and came across the female-founded supplement brand, Ritual. For Serena, it was “the one brand that gave me the confidence that I was putting the right things into my body thanks to every ingredient being traceable and backed by science,” she says. In fact, she loved the brand—and its mission to push for better standards in women’s health—so much that she decided to serve as Ritual’s first women’s health advisor. “I needed something real, something clean, transparent, and backed by science,” she says.

Serena tells Women’s Health that her new Ritual supplement routine has made a drastic difference in how she feels each day. Here’s how the magic happens, plus Serena’s top picks from the brand.

She’s all about consistency.

Serena says it’s important for her to stay on top of her vitamin regimen. “I keep it consistent,” she says. To that end, she makes sure to start every day off with the Women’s Multivitamin 18+, washing it down with some water. “It’s a small thing, but it sets the tone for how I take care of myself,” she says.

She also loves using Ritual’s brand new Magnesium+ supplement, which is designed to support muscle and nerve function, along with sleep. (FYI, the supp is vegan, non-GMO, and third-party tested for purity and potency.) “It’s become a staple in my routine,” Serena says. “I love how it helps with my sleep, stress, and muscle recovery.”

FYI, magnesium is a super important micronutrient that plays a role in more than 300 essential bodily functions, including breaking down protein, energy production, muscle function, and calcium and potassium transport across cell membranes. It’s a key player in everything from bone health, to blood sugar regulation, bowel regularity and better sleep, according to UCLA Health. Typically, women need to be consuming around 310 to 320 milligrams of magnesium each day, and more if they’re pregnant or breastfeeding. (One serving of the Ritual Magnesium+ supp has 300 mg, so you’re pretty much set for the day!)

Serena’s full lineup, which you can bundle together on Ritual’s site, includes the Women’s Multivitamin 18+ capsules, the Magnesium+ supplement drink mix, the Synbiotic+ capsules, a 3-in-1 clinically backed formula featuring prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics to support gut health, and the HyaCera capsules, a daily supp that supports skin health.
