Serena Williams is giving an update on her sister Venus Williams’ upcoming wedding and sharing her advice for the bride and groom.
After almost eight years of marriage to husband Alexis Ohanian, Serena Williams will gain a new brother-in-law when her sister marries fiancé Andrea Preti.
Serena was asked about her marriage advice to her sister when she appeared on the Today show on Thursday, Aug. 21.

“My advice is to always have fun, to always go on dates, to take a moment and just, like, dance,” Serena shared. “Let your guard down and just let you feel vulnerable. I’m no expert. I definitely am not perfect.”
The retired tennis pro, 43, married Ohanian, who is a tech entrepreneur, 42, in November 2017 and the couple share daughters Olympia, 7, and Adira, 1.
“7 years has gone so fast… Happy anniversary @alexisohanian,” Serena shared on Instagram in Nov. 2024. “Thank you for being the best dad to our girls @olympiaohanian and @adiraohanian. Thanks for also making average November day a costume party and making it special. ❤️❣️.”

And while she’s excited to celebrate her sister’s wedding, she jokes the various wedding festivities keep coming. She shared that though she’s “already had” Venus’ bachelorette party, they are “planning lots of different parties and events.”
“It’s actually overwhelming, and I told Venus yesterday, ‘One more thing that you want me to do and I’m done. That’s it,’ “ Serena quipped.
Venus confirmed her engagement to Preti last month after months of engagement speculation and initially being linked to the actor-producer in July 2024. At the time, she shared that Preti has encouraged her return to tennis.
“My fiancé is here and he really encouraged me to keep playing,” Venus shared during a post-match interview at her first singles match in over a year.

“There were so many times where I just wanted to coast and kind of chill,” she continued. “Do you know how hard it is to play tennis? You guys don’t know how much work goes into this, like it’s 9 to 5 except you’re running the whole time. Lifting weights and just like dying and then you repeat it the next day. So he encouraged me to get through this and it’s wonderful to be here. He’s never seen me play.”
