Serena Williams Just Rocked the Slip Dress of the Summer—and Now I Want One in Every Color

Is it just me, or has this summer been extra hot? Here in New York City, it definitely feels that way (I mean, we literally got recategorized from a humid continental climate to subtropical—what?!). With all this heat, I’ve been on the hunt for styles that are equal parts easy and breezy.

And if there’s one staple that checks all the boxes, it’s the slip dress. Elegant, low-effort, and endlessly chic. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so—celebrities are all in too. Case in point: Serena Williams.

The tennis icon recently took to social media to share a few sun-drenched snapshots of herself in nature and while the scenery was gorgeous, I couldn’t stop staring at the dress. She wore a silky brown spaghetti-strap slip dress paired with black sunglasses, white sandals and her bronde hair pulled back into a ponytail. The vibe? Effortlessly glam.

Her caption was equally powerful. “One must cultivate resilience in the face of adversity, maintaining a posture of dignity and perseverance, even when the weight of life’s challenges seeks to overwhelm,” she wrote. “Or as the infamous Tupac would say, ‘You gotta keep your head up.’”

Serena’s not the only celeb turning to the slip dress this season. Jennifer Lawrence was recently spotted in NYC wearing a lace-trimmed version that gave quiet luxury energy. (Yes, we already tracked down some lookalikes so you can copy her vibe.)

And then there’s Gabrielle Union, who showed up to the Paris Olympics in a stunning satin number by Showpo, complete with a bustier-style bodice and delicate floral appliqués.

If Serena, Jennifer, and Gabrielle are all on board, I think it’s officially time I add a few more slip dresses to my summer rotation.
