Serena Williams’ husband, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian, recently shared that he has been continuing the “papa pancake” tradition with their younger daughter, Adira. He has enjoyed making pancakes and creating pancake art with their older daughter, Olympia, for quite some time now.
Williams and Ohanian first met in a hotel in Rome in 2015 and became engaged there in December 2016. The couple welcomed their daughter, Olympia Ohanian, on September 1, 2017. They got married in New Orleans in November 2017. After more than five years of marriage, they welcomed their second daughter, Adira River Ohanian, in August 2023.

Serena Williams’ Husband Alexis Ohanian Shared ‘Papa Pancake’ Tradition With Younger Daughter Adira
Ohanian frequently shares on social media how he spends time with Olympia and Adira. He initially started a tradition of making pancakes on Sundays with Olympia. He also shared videos of Olympia gradually mastering the art of pancake-making.
Recently, the tech entrepreneur revealed that he and Adira have also begun creating pancake art on a griddle using various colored pancake batters. He shared a series of pictures on social media showcasing his Sunday tradition of creating pancake art, which he calls “papa pancakes.”
This time, Ohanian was seen making pancakes with his younger daughter, Adira. He mentioned that the papa pancakes are “multigenerational” and revealed that the two-year-old had successfully made her first “perfect flip” with her pancake.
“Papa Pancakes are multigenerational. Nothing like the feeling of your first perfect flip. I’ve got so much to teach you, DeeDee,” Ohanian captioned his Instagram post.
On the tennis side of things, Williams turned professional in 1995 and during her career won a total of 39 Grand Slam titles: 23 in singles, 14 in doubles alongside her sister, Venus Williams, and two mixed doubles titles while partnering with Max Mirnyi. She retired from professional tennis in 2022 after competing in the US Open.
What Did Williams’ Husband, Ohanian, Say About His Pancake-Making Tradition?
While speaking about his tradition of making pancakes with his daughters, Williams’ husband, Ohanian, shared that he developed his pancake-making skills while he was home during the COVID-19 pandemic. He revealed that he has a “very particular setup” that includes squeeze bottles and various other tools for making pancakes.
“Just thinks I make pancakes for a living. Which I do. It’s my Sunday. It was my COVID skill that I picked up. I have a very particular setup with squeeze bottles and everything else,” Ohanian said.
Ohanian also mentioned that since becoming a father, he has been focused on doing things professionally that his daughters would be “proud” of, as it is his responsibility as a father and role model.
“I spent most of my life, most of my adult life really focusing on just the career part, the first part, and then I became a dad. Things shifted. I want to be doing my absolute best work for however long I can so that my daughter can see me doing it, doing it in a way that I’m proud of, that’s she’s proud of. I also think it’s part of my responsibility as a dad and a role model,” he added.
It is interesting to note that Williams, Ohanian, and their daughter Olympia are stakeholders and co-owners of Angel City F.C., a soccer club in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL), as well as the Los Angeles Golf Club (LAGC).

He sat alone, no orchestra, no spotlight tricks — just a man, a cello, and the weight of centuries of music; with the first bow stroke of Bach’s Suite No. 1 in G Major, Yo-Yo Ma transformed silence into something holy, as if every note had been written for this moment; his fingers moved like whispers across the strings, pulling out memories we didn’t know we carried, griefs we thought we had buried, and joys too fragile to name; the world outside seemed to vanish, leaving only the sound of Bach reborn in a single breath; and when the final vibration faded, it felt less like a performance and more like a prayer — one that left millions asking themselves whether they had just witnessed music, or something closer to eternity.

Who could have imagined that the man who has filled the grandest concert halls with music would one day be found in a hospital kitchen in Argentina, apron tied, quietly preparing meals for sick children; André Rieu, the world’s beloved maestro, set aside his violin and bent over bubbling pots, his hands—once commanding bows and strings—now gently stirring soup and plating food for fragile little souls fighting for their lives; nurses and parents wept as they watched the man who once made audiences roar with ovations kneel to serve with a smile warmer than any spotlight; whispers rippled through the ward that this was not a performance, not charity for cameras, but pure compassion etched in every gesture; for a fleeting moment, the sterile hospital walls dissolved, replaced by the glow of humanity unshaken; and in that instant, Rieu reminded the world that music may heal hearts, but kindness can save them.
