The look reminded everyone of Wimbledon’s famous “all white” dress code. Serena joked about it in her post, writing:“So… what do you wear when you’re getting an award from the King, Queen, and Princess of Spain? I went with white. All white. The event took place in Oviedo, a city in northern Spain.After the ceremony, Serena shared a heartfelt message on social media, saying she felt “deeply honored” and “truly humbled” to join other sports greats who had received the same award before her, like Lindsey Vonn and Pau Gasol.
“Feeling deeply honored to receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Sports in Northern Spain,” Serena wrote. “This award has been presented to so many remarkable individuals over the years, and to be recognized as part of that legacy is truly humbling.
