Ryan Seacrest loves a little pillow talk. During his syndicated radio show on September 2, 2025, the “American Idol” and “Wheel of Fortune” host admitted just how serious he is about the pillow he sleeps on each night.

“I have to carry my pillow with me,” he told his co-hosts, Sisanie and Tanya Rad. “I have to pack my pillow. If I go to a friend’s house to stay, I take my pillow. I just get so used to my pillow. I love my pillow. I’m into my pillow.”
As Rad, 38, grappled with the realization she’s had the same pillows since she graduated from college, Seacrest was ready with advice for how to find one she’ll never want to leave home without.
Ryan Seacrest Vacuum Packs His Pillow to Take on Trips: Do Others Travel With Their Pillows?
Seacrest is often on the road, from “American Idol” auditions to visiting his parents in Atlanta, and said on his radio show that to save room in his lugagge, he vacuum packs his pillow.
It turns out Seacrest is not alone in insisting he take his pillow everywhere — but he’s also not in the majority. According to Hilton’s 2024 Trend Report, 18% of global travelers say they pack their pillow for trips to help ensure they sleep well on a trip
When Rad agreed with Seacrest that “pillows are so important,” she said that while she changes her pillowcases daily, she hasn’t bought a new pillow in years.
Seacrest expressed concern there might be a “hygiene issue with having pillows for that long,” and then offered Rad some advice on finding a new one.

“You need to go to one of the stores,” Seacrest advised. “Mattress Firm, one of those stores, and actually test the pillows. I got new pillows — meaning, like, a couple of years ago. I went to the store, laid on the beds, I talked to the guy.”
“I told him how I sleep,” Seacrest continued, as Rad looked increasingly fascinated. “I showed him. I demoed how I sleep in my bed, on the mattress. He put different pillows under me because you need to test drive these pillows before you get them! The guy says, ‘Show me how you sleep,’ and I’m like, ‘With pleasure!’”

In 2023, Seacrest told Fortune that regardless of how much sleep he gets at night, he makes sure that he “sleeps well” by making good choices, from his pillow to what he eats.
“Fortunately, I wake up with energy,” he told the outlet. “I absolutely love the opportunities that are in front of me. I like people.”
Sleeping well, he told Fortune, helps him manage stress and maintain those energy levels. He also eats a plant-based diet and only consumes meat when traveling, he said.
After leaving his morning talk show with Kelly Ripa, “Live With Kelly & Ryan,” in 2023, he told People that getting to sleep in one place was an “epiphany” for him.
“One of the things that I’ve done in the last two months is I’ve slept in the same time zone,” he said. “I have not done that over a period of two weeks in six years. So just being on the same side of the country for an extended period of time has been life changing.”
