Ryan Seacrest is arguably used to seeing his name in lights — but now his moniker will appear in a somewhat unlikely location.

The DeKalb County School Board announced on Monday, December 8, that it approved the recommendation from the Dunwoody, Georgia, naming committee to rename Dunwoody High School’s football stadium to Seacrest Stadium, after the famed host.

Thanks to Seacrest, 50, and his parents, Connie and Gary, who have worked for over 20 years with the community to make this a reality, Dunwoody High School will be allowed to privately “fund and build additional seating and associated structures to allow for high school varsity football games to be played at Dunwoody High School,” a press release said.

While at Dunwoody High School, Seacrest hosted the school’s morning announcements.

“At just 16 years old, he transformed the daily announcements into a full morning broadcast show, beginning each day with an enthusiastic, ‘Good morning, Dunwoody!’ Ryan’s creativity and vision quickly earned him the reputation as ‘The Voice of Dunwoody,’” the press release said. “During his broadcasts, he regularly recognized students, teachers and parents, celebrating their accomplishments and contributions to the school.”

In addition to his morning announcement duties, Seacrest was on the Dunwoody High School football team, which won the 1992 AAAA Regional Championship.

The Wheel of Fortune host graduated from Dunwoody High School that same year and has since made quite the name for himself as an Emmy-winning television host, radio personality and executive producer.

“The new Seacrest Stadium will give Dunwoody something it has never truly had — a home field worthy of its pride and tradition. With 2,000 additional seats, improved accessibility and a modern press box, the Dunwoody community can finally gather under the lights to cheer, celebrate and connect,” the press release noted. “These stands will be more than a structure — they’ll be a symbol of unity, school spirit and hometown pride that generations of Wildcats will call their own.”

Seacrest rose to fame in 2002 when he became the first host of American Idol (which he initially cohosted alongside Brian Dunkleman, who only lasted one season). Seacrest has continued this gig and is currently slated to host the show’s 24th season. The Georgia-native also hosts Wheel of Fortune and Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, both he took over from Pat Sajak in late 2024 and late 2025 respectively.

Seacrest became an executive producer and cohost of Dick Clark‘s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in 2005. He has continued to lead the holiday special after Clark’s death in 2012, and now has a variety of A-list cohosts on different coasts. On November 24, ABC announced that Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2026 is returning with Seacrest and Rita Ora (who joined Seacrest in 2023) cohosting from New York City. Chance the Rapper will host from Chicago, while Rob Gronkowski and Julianne Hough will cohost from Las Vegas.

Seacrest currently hosts the iHeartRadio 102.7 KIIS-FM pop culture centered music show “On Air with Ryan Seacrest.” Seacrest also spearheads the “American Top 40” weekend music weekend countdown, which he took over from legendary disk jockey Casey Kasem in 2004.
