American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest is a self-proclaimed foodie who doesn’t shy away from bringing interesting flavor profiles to his meals. When Seacrest shared an unconventional ice cream hack, some fans were a bit surprised, but willing to try it based on his recommendation.
Ryan Seacrest Skips the Typical Sprinkles on His Ice Cream
On July 20, Seacrest took to Instagram to celebrate National Ice Cream Day by serving up some delicious scoops. He took the classic dessert to a new level, however, when he added a rather interesting topping.
Not hot fudge, whipped cream or sprinkles for the “Idol” host — he prefers a sprinkle of salt!
“Salt over sprinkles. Always. Happy #NationalIceCreamDay, aka the one holiday I never forget,” he noted in the caption. “No calendar reminder needed.”
Seacrest added, “No portion control either.”
He shared a series of photos, which included him sprinkling salt over his ice cream and scooping it into a bowl.
One fan questioned the addition, writing, “Salt? On ice cream?”
He responded, “Try it!”
The fan shared, “I will! I’m intrigued.”
Other fans admitted, “I have never tried salt on ice cream before!” and “Never ever heard of salt on ice cream before … may have to give it a try!”
Another fan shared a similar addition, commenting, “Always put a few potato chips on mine. Same theory and so good! You make your own ice cream! Very cool!”
Others shared suggestions like, “Try ice cream and pickled cucumber” and “Try olive oil and pistachios on top.”
“Sweet and salty best combo,” one of his followers noted. Another fan shared, “Yummy and yes, some salt is necessary for certain flavors … my favorite is salted caramel with a dash of Hawaiian pink salt on top. So good. Enjoy Ryan.❤️”
Ryan Seacrest Shows Off His Love of Food
Seacrest is happy to jump on any holiday that celebrates food, as evidenced by his Instagram posts.
On June 28, he posted a series of photos showing him enjoying and cooking food, writing, “Doing my part for #NationalFoodieDay, one bite at a time.”
In a May 28 post, Seacrest got down to burger business, writing, “Some people eat burgers. I engineer them. Happy #InternationalBurgerDay, how do you like yours?”

On May 5, he took to Instagram to celebrate Cinco De Mayo, eating tacos on the set of “American Idol.”
“Fueling up on tacos so I have enough energy to say ‘This is #AmericanIdol’ with the proper level of drama. We’re LIVE, tune in & happy #CincoDeMayo! 🌮”
