Price Is Right’s Drew Carey admitted he couldn’t ‘do the math’ while trying to figure out a player’s chances before she made a massive win
The Price Is Right’s host, Drew Carey, joked he couldn’t “do the math” while trying to figure out a player’s chances before she made a massive win.
During the June 17 episode of the hit CBS game show, player Claire took to the stage to meet Carey after guessing the nearest retail price of a home office.
Announcer George Gray then revealed she had the chance to win a sedan if she won a game of Five Price Tags. She exclaimed to Carey that she’d been waiting for this for years.
Five Price Tags shows a player five potential prices for a car. Small prizes are presented to the contestant, and for each time the contestant identifies whether the displayed price of each prize is true or false, they earn a choice of the five price tags.

She earned two picks. Before she chose one of the five prizes, she told Carey she had a 40 percent chance of winning. Her first choice was wrong.
The next one, though, was not. With only one more choice, she chose $23,559 and screamed, “I’m done!” when she realized she won.
As she ran to her new car, Carey told the cameras: “So, did she always have a 40 percent chance even after the second chance, or did she only have a 25 percent chance then? And how do you factor in previous knowledge? I don’t know!”
He then jokingly admitted he couldn’t do the math.
Claire’s luck continued to soar throughout the episode. She won on the wheel, earning her a spot in the Showcase round.
In the Showcase, she passed on a patio set, and trips to Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Portugal.

Her opponent, Jack, bid $23k on them. Claire’s Showcase included a tennis package, a dining room table, and an SUV, which she bid $35k on.
While Jack had a difference of $7k, Claire only had $2k. Thus, she walked away with a home office, a sedan, and her entire Showcase package, all worth over $60k.
When Carey announced her as the winner, she repeatedly screamed, “No!” but Carey joked back, “Yes!” just as much.
During yesterday’s episode, Carey admitted he thought a player’s game was “doomed” after a close call.
Player Nancy nearly pushed Carey down in a bear hug when she made it to the stage after guessing the nearest retail price of a set of cookware from Caraway.
Gray then revealed that if she won a game of Cliffhangers, she could win a whole new kitchen, including a retro fridge, oven, and dishwasher.

If the mountain climber does not exceed 25 steps, then the contestant wins a bonus prize.
Nancy had to guess the prices of a dog leash, skiing goggles, and a scale.
For the dog leash, she guessed $35, but it was actually $24. The player screamed as the climber stopped at 11 on the board.
She then guessed the scale to be $35 as well, but it was $30, so the climber went up five places.
Finally, she bid $55 on the skiing goggles and was off by five, making the climber stop only four places from the edge of the cliff.
Carey clearly expected a player to miss out on the massive prize as she literally inched closer to failing her game.
“I’ll admit it, I thought it was done for,” Carey laughed as the player screamed in excitement. “I thought it was doomed.”
