The Price Is Right host Drew Carey was shocked by a player’s incredibly unlucky bid on Contestants Row.

During the July 2 episode of the hit CBS game show, announcer George Gray called player Madeline down to Contestants Row, and she got to be the first person to guess the nearest retail price of a cardio machine.

She bid a “crisp $2000,” before Carey replied, “Good for you.” The contestant didn’t yet realize how close she bid to the actual price, though.

Carey then revealed who was closest without going over. The price of the cardio machine was $1999, meaning Madeline bid just one dollar over the retail price, allowing another player, Gabriel, who bid $1700, to head on to the stage.

The host felt bad after Madeline was seen throwing up her hands and covering her head, as the player next to her tried to console her.

The host felt bad and apologized, saying, “I’m so sorry to read that out loud. Over by only a dollar.”

He then turned to Gabriel and said laughing, “Gabriel, you were not over by a dollar, so welcome to the show.”

The contestant went on to play a game of Hot Seat, which involves players having to guess if a series of gorcery items are higher or lower than a given price in under 30 seconds.

He guessed that a first aid kit was less than $70 and was right. Gabriel then guessed a bar prep station was less then $95 and was also right.

He said a measuring tape was more than $25 and was also correct. A brush set was guessed to be less than $50, wich was also correct.

The last one he chose to leave and walk away with $5k.

Players Grace and Micheal went up against each other during the Showcase round.

Grace bid $31k on a tea package, smart watches, and an SUV, and Micheal bid $35k on a trip to South Africa and an SUV.

Grace ended up winning the Showcase, taking home tons of prizes.

During the July 1 episode, Carey was left shocked as one player was literally one second away from losing everything in their game.

Player Edward made it to the stage after guessing the nearest retail price of a porch swing.

Carey noticed he was wearing a shirt that said “Life Long Pricer” and asked the contestant who that was before Edward pointed to his wife in the audience.

Announcer George Gray then revealed he had the chance of winning a karaoke and luggage package, as well as a trip to Vermont if he won a game of the Clock Game.

Edward had 30 seconds to guess the prices of the packages to win all three prizes.

The player guessed the price of the last prize with one second to spare, shocking Carey and viewers.

The host exclaimed, “One second to spare! And he did it without his wife!”
