A Price Is Right contestant had an awkward moment with longtime host Drew Carey during the Mother’s Day special of the gameshow.

During the May 9 episode of the hit CBS show, announcer George Gray revealed the next prize as designer shoes and handbags but when it came time to announce the person who guessed the nearest retail price, Carey made a rare blunder.

He called up player Annette, who began making her way to the stage, but he immediately realized he called the wrong contestant, yelling: “No no no no, wait, no no no no!”

He then revealed player Terry had actually won and as soon as she made it to the stage, Carey told Annette: “That was my mistake. Sorry about that, I looked right past that.”

Annette got justice for that move as she later chose the nearest price of a television and Carey was forced to apologize yet again.

“This is for real this time,” he said. “This is for real this time. Nice to see you. I’m so glad you made it up here, I don’t feel as guilty now.”

Annette had the chance of winning $7K on a game of Now or Then, which sees contestants shown six grocery items arranged in a circle, each with a price.

The contestant must select an item and identify whether the price is from the present or from a specified date in the past.

If they’re correct about three adjacent items, they win the prize.

Annette failed the game but she later spun the highest number on the wheel, securing a place on in the Showcase round.

She passed diamond jewelry, a living room set and an SUV onto opponent Abbe, who bid $32k on everything.

Then, Gray announced her Showcase, trips to the Hamptons, Paris, and Fiji, which she bid $33k on. Abbe bid over, but Annette didn’t, which made her the winner.

Despite her awkward moment at the start of the show, Annette ended her time on Price Is Right perfectly.

This isn’t the first time in recent episodes that Carey has made a significant blunder, as earlier this week, he also mistakingly told a recent player he’d lost his game when he hadn’t.

During the May 6 episode, player Reginald guessed the nearest retail price of a set of air purifiers and made his way to the stage where Gray revealed he had the chance to win a trip to Aruba if he won a game of Bonkers.

The game sees a player shown the wrong four-digit price of a prize. The contestant must place paddles above the wrong digits in the price to indicate whether the correct digits are higher or lower.

Once the paddles are in place, the contestant presses a button to determine whether they are correct. If they are incorrect, they can make changes until they are – or the buzzer sounds at 30 seconds.

Reginald did a series of different combos before placing paddles above a four, two and three. A paddle below a seven (which was the number next to the four) fell to the floor as the buzzer sounded.

An alarm sounded indicating that Reginald lost the game, but when they revealed the right combo, he was actually correct.

Carey looked visibly confused but went on to tell him: “Oh you were almost there. I saw you reaching for the – you almost had the right pattern. You almost had it.”

However, he stopped and looked at the board as it appeared someone behind the scenes was speaking to him in his earpiece.

Carey quickly said: “What? Oh he won? Congratulations man. Last minute buzzer beater. How bout that? Last second buzzer beater. Nice job enjoy your trip to Aruba.”
