Paris Jackson is standing her ground amid criticism for performing on the anniversary of her father Michael Jackson’s death.
The 27-year-old singer addressed the backlash in an Instagram Stories video on June 13, speaking candidly about the June 25 tour date with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra — a day that marks 16 years since the King of Pop passed away.
“So people are mad again,” Paris said. “This time, I think, I guess one of the tour dates I’m supposed to be going out on tour with Incubus and Manchester Orchestra happens to be June 25, which is a very negative anniversary for me in my life and my family.”
She explained that as a supporting act on the tour, she does not have control over scheduling. “When you’re not headlining these shows, you don’t pick what date you perform,” Paris said, clarifying that she can’t simply opt out of the specific date.
The singer also painted a down-to-earth picture of her tour life, emphasizing the modest setup. “It’s just me and my acoustic guitar and my sound guy, who happens to be my fiancé,” she shared, referring to Justin Long. “So we’re gonna be in a soccer mom van.”
Paris made it clear she sought out the opportunity to join the tour and has no plans to cancel. “So, I’m gonna tell ’em, ‘Sorry, guys, we can’t perform on this date?’” she said sarcastically before adding a blunt, “F— you.”
Incubus announced in March that Paris Jackson and Manchester Orchestra would be joining their Morning View + The Hits tour across the U.S. and U.K. The June 25 Nashville show will fall exactly 16 years after Michael Jackson’s death at age 50.
Paris’s message offers a glimpse into the pressures she faces balancing her own artistic journey with the weight of her family legacy, reminding fans and critics alike that sometimes, circumstances are simply out of one’s control.
