The truth behind the King of Pop’s hidden health battles, finally revealed.
Michael Jackson will always remain the undisputed king of pop. Even after decades of his death, there are numerous artists who still look up to him and his talent. Artists imitate him and his signing and dancing style. For those who loved and admired him, Michael is still alive in their hearts.
However, despite the name and fame he gained, he maintained a sense of secret throughout his career. People were never fully aware of his personal health.
Though he had dominated headlines and stages for decades, Michael Jackson remained notoriously private. Even his closest advisors and medical specialists did not know what they didn’t need to know. And because of this level of privacy and secrecy around his physical, mental, and emotional health, many people only knew of his health struggles after his death.
Once the shocking details of his 2009 autopsy report came out, then only the public could understand the toll fame, stress, and substance abuse had taken on his body and mind.
Michael Jackson died on June 25, 2009. He was 50 years old. One of the main causes of his death was acute propofol intoxication. It is a potent surgical anesthetic that is used to cure persistent sleeplessness. However, in the case of Jackson, it was administered wrongly in a non-hospital setting, which proved fatal. His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, provided him with the medicine. And because of that, he was eventually found guilty of involuntary manslaughter.
Michael was dealing with several health issues. A few of them are:
Weight and Overall Health: Jackson weighed just 112.6 pounds when he died. It is an extremely low weight for a man of his height and size. It indicated years of deteriorating health. It may have been caused due to stress, irregular eating habits, and unsupervised medicinal use.
Extent of operations: The autopsy revealed multiple scars and puncture marks on Michael’s body. These were mainly behind the ears, on the neck, and arms. It indicated that Jackson had extensive cosmetic operations over the years.
Substance Abuse Signs: There were signs of substance abuse everywhere on his body. Injection sites were discovered all over his body. They were found mainly on his arms, hips, thighs, and shoulders. These signs were consistent with previous drug usage. It is most likely that he took regular drugs to treat his sleeplessness and physical discomfort. Such heavy dependency on medicine and DRG shows that not everything was right in Michael’s life.
The autopsy also pulled back the curtain from the secret of his physical appearance.
Cosmetic alterations: Aside from surgery, Michael Jackson depended on permanent make-up for his appearance. The autopsy revealed tattooed brows and lips. There was also a scalp tattoo designed to give the illusion of a youthful hairline.
Hair and Skin Issues: Perhaps most stunning was the discovery that Jackson was practically bald. He had a tattoo covering his head and a wig concealing it. There was scarring on his head and cheeks. It revealed a terrible image of recurrent surgeries and potential damage.
The autopsy also revealed that Jackson had vitiligo. This caused him to have an increasingly paler skin tone, which he publicly recognized.
People in Michael’s life saw his waste away for months before his death. They saw his physical and mental decline. There was fatigue, weight loss, and anxiety riddling during his last rehearsals for his “This Is It” tour.
When one looks at the bigger picture and combines all that came out of the autopsy and police reports, one can see that Jackson was far from his energetic self. The image that he portrayed was false, and behind it was Aman, who was struggling with an abnormal day in his life.
