Marina Domashenko, a distinguished Russian operatic mezzo-soprano, has graced international stages with her powerful performances.

Born in 1979 into a musical family in Kemerovo, Siberia, she honed her skills in piano and conducting at the Kemerovo School of Music and later studied opera singing at the Yekaterinburg Conservatory.

In 1998, Domashenko made her European debut as Olga in Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” at the Prague State Opera. Her career quickly flourished, leading to performances at prestigious venues worldwide. Notably, she portrayed Lyubasha in Rimsky-Korsakov’s “The Tsar’s Bride” at both the San Francisco Opera and the Zürich Opera House.

Her interpretation of this role, especially in collaboration with the late baritone Dmitri Hvorostovsky, was highly acclaimed. Their duet “Zachem ty” from “The Tsar’s Bride” is particularly memorable, showcasing a profound emotional connection and exceptional vocal harmony.

Domashenko’s contributions to opera have been recognized with several awards. She secured first prizes at the 32nd International Antonín Dvořák Singing Competition in 1997 and at the Gianfranco Masini International Competition for Young Opera Singers in 1999.
